Former Gay Porn Star Hector de Silva Wins Election for Mayor

Former gay porn star Hector de Silva (real name Antonio Moreno) was one of the hottest men in gay porn for years. The Raging Stallion and Men at Play star often rocked a suit and tie in his videos, but now that suit is no costume; the Spanish stud was just elected to be mayor of Carcelén, Spain.

Moreno was born in Albacete, but moved to Carcelén (a few hours southeast of Madrid) six years ago in search of a calmer life after he left the porn industry. Though he fell in love with the town's charm, he also discovered that a long-lost aunt who had been given up for adoption lived in the town, and after doing some digging, he found her. Moreno became a fireman, which helped him develop a deep love for the town and its people. Moreno also began running a livestock farm there with his partner.

But he wanted to do even more for the small town that became his home. The 38 year-old out politician decided to run with the Partido Popular (PP), which is historically a conservative Christian political party. Having previously voted against marriage equality, the PP has apparently evolved with the times a bit, even introducing legislation that combated anti-LGBTQ+ laws.

Moreno aims to focus his tenure as Mayor on increasing Carcelén's population, and making their summer festivals a larger tourist destination. With 51.4% (a margin of 12 people!!!) of the town's vote, the people apparently agreed. The narrow win ended the 12-year term of María Dolores Gómez Piqueras, who lost to Moreno.

It's worth noting that even though he's running with a conservative Christian party, Moreno is neither ashamed of nor hiding from his gay porn past. "I take it my past as a porn actor normally because my family, who supported me, knew about it and I have always told them about it." he told Spanish news outlet Sur. "It is a stage in my life that I don't regret because I learned a lot." he added.

In fact, it's not his history as a gay porn actor that has brought Moreno the most flak. Rather, it's his association with the PP that has caused some people to stop talking to him. Because Carcelén is a very political town, his constituents are very passionate about their views, and many don't love the PP's conservative leanings. "They have rebuked me for presenting myself with the PP," Moreno said. "Not for being a maricon." For those unfamiliar, "maricon" is the Spanish word for faggot.
