Still Bigger, Still Better

Reviewing Matt Sterling's "The Bigger The Better" seems almost like reviewing "The Wizard of Oz": everybody's already seen it, and it's hard to say anything that hasn't been said about this much-loved landmark porn production already. Starring Rick Donovan and Matt Ramsey (aka Peter North, one of the biggest names in straight porn), this 1984 pre-condom flick is an absolute classic, and for good reason: over 20 years after its initial release, the scenes are still hotter than practically anything being produced today—especially that "hot for teacher" action in the first scene where horse-hung Donovan seduces his teacher "Mr. Ramsey", bends him over a desk, and fucks him mercilessly. But while that first setup might be the most memorable, every scene covers porn territory that has been often imitated, but never duplicated; it's no wonder that "The Bigger The Better" is the best selling and most popular gay porn film of all time.
This newly restored DVD from Bijou Video brings new life to the film with enhanced colors and sound, but it still retains the the smutty and vintage look of the original—and it's an absolute must for any discerning gay porn collection. No prizes for guessing what we'll be watching again tonight. (After "America's Next Top Model" is over, that is.)
