A New Reality Show About Polyamory, Couple for Throuple

Couple for Throuple is a new dating show upping the ante on the traditional reality dating show. We've watched guy fall for girl, girl pick her guy, guy find his guy, exes come back together on a beach somewhere, etc, but now we are going to watch couples fishing for thirds. Yes, you heard right. Polyamory is mainstream, folks.

Peacock (of all places!!! I told you mainstream!) just dropped the trailer for their original reality series Couple to Throuple. Let's all get hooked as we watch four couples as they plunge into polyamory, each couple looking for a third to join their relationship. As Kander & Ebb wrote in Cabaret, "twosies beats onsies, but nothing beats threes."

Even though it's supposed to be scintillating, it still feels a bit prudish. Four couples are taken to paradise to practice "non-monogamy" under the watchful eye of the cameras and producers. Of course, it's three straight couples and one Queer couple  — one identifies as bi and one as "dont-knock-it-til-you-try-it-sexual" (eyeroll). It seems there's a stable of bisexual singles who each couple chooses from to invite into the private resort to "get to know better." Then, of course, comes the drama of it all. Everyone gets jealous, everyone is questioning these connections — the new ones and the old. The gay couple has that moment every open couple who plays with a third has, "Have you done something alone with him?"

The Queer couple is the hunky Midwestern duo Ashmal Ali & Rehman Bhatti. Ashmal Ali is a 27-year-old who hails from Chicago, Illinois and works in public relations. His partner Rehman Bhatti is 31-years-old and from Detroit, Michigan. I have a feeling they may not be together, based on some recent Instagram posts, but let's see.

Couple to Throuple is hosted by Scott Evans (not Chris Evan's hot brother, different guy, same name) and features the help sex and relationship expert Shamyra Howard. The first season consists of 10 episodes and a season finale (where I imagine we see which throuples have made it and which have returned to couples...or if any switched partners and started as a new couple). Couple to Throuple premieres on Peacock on February 8.
