Tons of LGBTQ+ Content Is Coming to Streaming This Month!

Labor Day is over which means one thing: the unofficial start of Autumn has begun! Yes, the season technically starts on September 21st, but as long as I'm drinking pumpkin spice lattes and am prohibited from wearing white, then goddammit it's the Fall. With that always comes a deluge of great content. From new drops, to season returns, and a few classics that are finally available to stream, here's a look at some of the best LGBTQ+ content available starting this September.

Cassandro

It's really quite simple... if you want to watch a biopic about a gay wrestler where Gael García Bernal makes out with both Bad Bunny and Raul Castillo then you need to watch Cassandro. The movie premieres on Amazon's Prime Video on September 22nd.

Never Let Him Go

If you want a rollercoaster of a true crime mystery, then look no further than Never Let Him Go (Netflix). The four-part documentary tells the story of Scott Johnson, a gay American who moved to Australia. Shortly thereafter, he was found dead and naked at the bottom of a cliff in Sydney. Though authorities stated he jumped, Johnson's family was extremely skeptical for a myriad of reasons. While telling the story from the perspective of Johnson's family, the documentary unearths new discoveries from the three-and-a-half-decade mystery.

Interview With the Vampire

Interview With the Vampire, based on the novel by Anne Rice, was one of the hottest shows of last season. Now, leading up to Season 2 of the popular gay vampire thriller, Max (the artist formerly known as HBO) is re-releasing the entire first season. To say I'm excited to see Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid's gorgeous selves on screen again is an understatement. Whew. IWTP secured an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA which allows them to film Season 2 amidst the guild's strike.

Drugs. Fucking. Cum guzzling club owners. Ryan Phillippe's bare ass. That's it. That's my summary of 54, the biopic of the truly legendary New York City nightclub, Studio 54. And if you need more of a selling point than that, then I just don't know what to tell you. This movie is amazing and fuck any haters who say otherwise. The 1998 movie is now streaming on Paramount+

Sex Education

Over its first three seasons, Netflix's Sex Education solidified itself as one of the best shows out there. And now the series comes to a close with Season 4. Starring recently-out actor Ncuti Gatwa, forever Queer goddess Gillian Anderson, Asa Butterfield, and Emma Mackey, the show hits the streamer on September 21st.

Theater Camp

If you're a theatre-loving homo like myself, then you're going to love Theater Camp. The movie stars Ben Platt, Noah Galvin, Amy Sedaris, and more. Not only is it absolutely hysterical (how could it not be with Amy Sedaris in it?), but it's also incredibly touching. The comedy — which was largely improvised — hits Hulu on September 14th!

Magic Mike XXL

Is Magic Mike XXL a specifically Queer movie? Not necessarily, no. But do I consider it part of the syllabus all homos should watch at least once? You better believe it. The sequel to 2012's Magic Mike, 2015's Magic Mike XXL stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, and moe is now available to watch for free on Tubi.
