I Can’t Bear the Wait… “Key West Bear Week” Finally Returns November 2022!

For the last two years our family has been deprived of so many of the great social calendar events that we look forward to every year. Pride events were pared-down (if not completely cancelled), many bars were only offering to-go drinks (if not completely shuttered), and major events that we plan our PTO vacation days around were indefinitely delayed. After a two-year hiatus, one such event is finally making its triumphant return this November: Key West Bear Week!

Presented by Shane Tate, 2022’s Key West Bear Week is going to be one of the must-attend events of the year, in no small part because it’s being hosted by our very own…the incomparable…Alexander Rodriguez! Alexander leads the week along with Bear With Us Gurrrl co-host, Cybersocket Award nominee, and internationally acclaimed porn star Teddy Bear. Cybersocket is beyond thrilled to be the main sponsor of the event along with our friends at Bear World Magazine. The November 2-6 events are hosted primarily at the truly infamous Island House Resort (which I’ve written about in the past), while some events will spill over to the Bourbon Street Pub, the Equator Resort, and Sidebar Key West, just to name a few.

KWBW has a slew of great events each day, including the famed Bear Soup Pool Party every day at Island House, the Britney Vs. Madonna Dance Party, the Bear Ass Tea Party, and, of course, the Mr. Key West Bear Contest and Party. Want to go do shopping in the iconic gay neighborhood? On Saturday November 5th, KWBW is hosting The Leather Master Shopping Experience from 11am to 1pm. This clothing-optional event has an open bar and is the perfect place to stock up on any sexy new gear before the Beers and Bears Leather Ball at 9pm that night.

One of the greatest aspects to being Queer is that we don’t have to need to conform to heteronormative standards. This is seen everywhere from who pays on a date, to assumptions on masculinity/femininity, to sexual positions. And one thing I’ve grown to love about being Queer is that—unless you’re an unevolved troglodyte—we view all body types that as beautiful. And thank gawd for that, because damn do I loves me a bigger/hairier guy. I love all body sizes, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a particular love of bears. But this event isn’t JUST for bears; all are welcome! Just know that this space is particularly focused on bears and those who specifically love them.

Key West Bear Week 2022 rages from November 2-6, which makes it the perfect way to spend your late Autumn. If you’re looking to enjoy the full week of events, I STRONGLY suggest you buy a KWBW All Access Pass for the incredibly low price of $80. We’ve all had a hellish two years, and damnit we’ve earned the right to let loose and party with our fellow brethren. I want to sip a cold drink, in a cool pool, with hot, hairy men surrounding me.
