Here’s An Ode to Guys With Non-Large Penises

EDITORIAL FEATURES

They’re the Real MVPs.

Just like Harvard’s Sex Week which you missed for the fourth time, National Small Business Week was last week, which you also missed. Again.

Since you missed it, here’s an interesting fact for you: Small businesses employ nearly half the nation’s workforce, and create two-thirds of the nation’s new jobs. But I know you’re not hear to learn boring facts about corporations.

According to a study in the Journal of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, data was compiled on 15,521 men, to plot the average penis size. And you know what?

The overwhelming majority of men – SIXTY-EIGHT PERCENT - are between 4.5 and 5.8 inches. NINETY-FIVE percent are less than 6.5 inches. NINETY-FIVE PERCENT.

That leaves only 5% of the male population of the world at over 6.5 inches. And only 2-10% (depending on who you ask) are gay.

Big cocks are rare

I’ve talked about the size of my cash and prizes before (I won’t repeat that information, but if you need to know, well…), and I never understood the allure of the size, why guys would intentionally choke themselves with it, and why the “total tops” were all-of-a-sudden down to bottom. After reading the statistics, however, it makes sense:

  • Number of people in the world: 7 Billion
  • Number of males in the world: 3.5 Billion
  • Number of gay males in the world (based on a generous estimate of 10%): 350 million
  • Number of those that are bigger than 6.5 inches: 17.5 million

17.5 million men IN THE WORLD, with a population of 7 billion, have a penis bigger than 6.5 inches. Big cocks are rare.

Porn’s influence

Many, if not most, gay men watch porn.

I’m sure you’ve heard the “porn is fantasy” argument before. Even though it is, porn has influenced the gay community in many ways – probably more than many of us would like to admit. When we had no icons or celebrities to look up to, porn stars became our celebrities. When there was no one to ask about sex when we were growing up and realizing we might be gay, many of us looked to porn to teach us how to do it.

Also, we all know that cocks in porn tend to skew towards the bigger side of the spectrum of cocks. Even though it’s a little less in gay porn – you need to have a decent face and pretty good body, whereas in straight porn, the emphasis is purely around your dick – it’s still true.

So it’s possible that we’ve been conditioned to only see things in an idealist state – that the way things are in porn are an example of how things should be in real life. That could be why many of us workout feverishly, why gay men are more prone to getting eating disorders, and to abusing steroids, than our straight counterparts – we all want to look like porn stars. That could also be the reason why, if a guy doesn’t have an arm swinging down there – regardless of his body or his face – many gay men are quick to call out the size of his member in the comment sections on blogs.

(The fact that mainstream gay porn tends to skew overwhelmingly white, as talked about in this video, could be the reason why many gay men want to date someone white or Latino, but that’s an argument for a different article).

Confessions of a reformed size queen

I’ll make a confession: I used to be a size queen. I used to say silly things like “It needs to be 8 inches, because the first two get lost in between my cheeks” and “I like to get fucked by guys with bigger cocks than me”. Not to mention that that feeling of getting my insides reamed out by an arm-sized cock was pretty cool, too.

However, after one too many incidents of guys with big cocks not really knowing what to do – of them just lying there, thinking that their big dick was all they needed to have to be good at sex – it’s not something I seek out as actively anymore.

After I stopped actively seeking out only the largest cocks, my sex life, as well as my satisfaction with sex, improved. I started valuing the quality of sex and the connection with the other guy over the pure size of their bepis. I stopped feeling like I had to do everything during a sex session. Not only that, but some of the guys I hooked up with really knew what they were doing. One guy – the best kisser I’ve ever kissed – knew how to turn me on with just ONE kiss, another with a simple rub of the shoulders. And a few, though they were only the size of my thumb, definitely knew how to find my prostate, where a lot of guys don’t care (keyword: missionary position).

To that point, it makes me wonder – is porn conditioning us into unhappiness? To think that sex should only be like the sex on Extra Big Dicks, or that the only guys worth sleeping with are the guys of Rocco Steele’s size?

I know this is all purely anecdotal, and no one likes that person that is all like “it happened to be, so it must be true”. That being said, I challenge you to open your minds about the penis size. It’s not everything. It may even allow you to have better sex than the sex you’re currently having.
