I’m your Gay News Guy – this is the news, casual, sassy, unfiltered, and a little tipsy. Ok here’s today’s MOVIE news as I see it!

Get out the Kleenex! Not for a tearjerker but for a…well, you get it. Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal are teaming up together for Guy Ritchie’s next big action film. No title yet, the two will pay extraction experts. We know what they can extract…woof!

Carrie Fisher was finally awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame appropriately on May 4^th to coincide with Star Wars Day. There was some drama as Carrie’s daughter actor Billy Lourd refused to invite Carrie’s siblings due to some drama and a claim that the siblings just wanted to capitalize off of Carrie’s fame. Billy had such a beautiful relationship with her mom and her grams (Debbie Reynolds), I didn’t even know Carrie had siblings. Kudos to Billy for being a kick-ass protector of her mom. RIP Princess Leia!

Ok, the gays are freaking out over leaked images and video from the set of Wicked. I get it, two divas fighting in Oz, it’s sexy…but this obsession? I dunno. ANYWAY, the first images have leaked of Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba riding a broom. She does look pretty kick-ass and we all know we actually root for the Wicked Witch over Glinda…that bitch got game!

Speaking of Divas…Celine Dion appears in Love Again starring Priyanka Chopra. Or does she? Because of the pandemic and travel restrictions and Celine not having to go anywhere she doesn’t want to…she didn’t film any of her scenes with her co-stars…she filmed them on a green screen safe in Canada. CGI, etc was used to insert her into the film. Girllll…if Barbra Streisand can record in a sound booth in her bedroom, Celine can film wherever she wants.

Beetlejuice 2 is totally a go. Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton are baaaackkk…joined by Wednesday’s Jenny Ortega. To round out the family, Tim Burton is returning with composer Danny Elfman. Can’t wait…the little Hot Topic girl inside of me is FREAKING OUT!

What’s Up, Doc? There’s a new Bugs Bunny animated/live-action crossover in the works. Not sure about this one…their Space Jam reboot was a big mess and a huge box office flop. Bugs Bunny is a character from the past that hasn’t really stayed up to the times like other Disney characters, Snoopy, or even Garfield. Not to mention Bugs is pretty politically incorrect when you look at the early cartoons…also his penchant for dressing up in drag. What will the conservatives say? LOL

The popular Babylon 5 TV show is getting a movie! But…it’s animated. I’m a sci-fi nerd but never watched the show, but the gay nerds seem to be salivating about this news. So…yay?

Sorry, Miley…you’re out! Miley Cyrus has been replaced for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Didn’t know Miley was even in it? She had an uncredited voiceover in Galaxy 2 as Mainframe in one of the credit scenes. For the 3^rd film, she is replaced by Loki's Tara Strong. I guess she came in like a wrecking ball. Wah wahhh…bad joke, I know.

Jeff Bridges is in for a Big Lebowski sequel! He said he for sure would come back if, and only if, the Cohen Brothers returned to direct and lead the project. Can you believe it’s been 25 years since it came out? It didn’t do so well at the box office but has become a cult hit. Personally, I’d love to see what the Dude is up to. BUT, Jeff Bridges went on to say that he didn’t think the Cohens would do a sequel. So…boo.

Here’s something interesting. There’s a movie in the works about the creation of the first episode of Saturday Night Live in 1975. Behind-the-scenes drama and addiction apparently plagued the set. The cast featured Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, and Jane Curtain. The first episode of SNL was hosted by George Carlin, who, according to cast members, was too high to do any of the skits. The episode also featured a guest appearance by Andy Kaufman and Jim Henson’s Muppets. Yeah, I want to see this movie.
