Taylor Swift’s “Lavender Haze” Love Interest is Hot AF Trans Model Laith Ashley

Taylor Swift's new album, Midnights, has been making waves across the billboards and the news. And now she's making waves again with her newest video for the album, "Lavender Haze". The video showcases gorgeous model Laith Ashley as Tay Tay's love interest. Laith is scruffy, muscular, hot as fuck... and trans!

What's so wonderful about his co-starring in the video is that his trans identity is not a part of the angle whatsoever! He's just... him, in all his sexy glory. And that's the point, isn't it? If more people could evolve and get past their own issues, then our existence as Queer people wouldn't need to be a statement. And videos like this get us closer to that goal. "Having a trans person just being in love on screen, it’s humanizing trans people,” Ashley said in BuzzFeed News. “We deserve to exist. We deserve to take up space in society. We will always exist regardless of anti-trans propaganda.”

Even more wonderful is that Swift self-directed the video, which means the choice was decidedly her own and not that of any outside influence. And save for some transphobic haters who were likely never a fan of Taylor to begin with, the support and praise have been pouring in. In an interview with Elle, Ashley said, “Even on Instagram, I’ve gotten thousands of messages from trans people of all ages saying how important and how huge it is that someone with the platform that Taylor Swift has, especially in the times that we’re in now, used a trans man as her love interest,” he said.
