When Naked Sword decided to try its hand at producing its own gay porn series, it was taking a bold step. You don't usually expect any new series to get everything right on the first try, but Naked Sword nailed it ' and the series is now about to begin its fourth season of erotic, ambitious fun. Each season of Golden Gate so far stands independently as an excellent work of gay smut, so you can feel free to start watching the series wherever you want. But we'd recommend watching it from the very beginning in order to really appreciate it.

Looking back at Golden Gate's first three seasons, Naked Sword's recipe for success seems fairly straightforward. First and foremost, Golden Gate has been built around incredibly hot sex, an all-star cast, and excellent production. But it has also introduced some highly original scenarios, and kept fans continually interested by supplementing the main episodes with a large number of additional solo videos, interviews, and behind-the-scenes vignettes.

Season Four (titled Golden Gate: Tourist Season) is about to unfold, and this time it's a collaboration/clusterfuck between Naked Sword and Cocky Boys ' adding a brand new twist to the series. In addition, Season Four also takes Golden Gate out of San Francisco for the first time and into New York (the new stomping grounds of Cocky Boys.) This actually reminds us of what CBS did with "Murder, She Wrote" back in the 1980s. Whenever Cabot Cove started to feel too stale, they'd send Jessica Fletcher off to New York, Carmel, or even Ireland. Which has us wondering where the Golden Gate studs may end up dropping their trousers next. Today, New York. Tomorrow, the world! In terms of cast, Season Four brings back a number of regulars, introduces some new blood, and also throws in some Cocky Boys for good measure. In addition, season four is co-directed by Ray Dragon in N.Y. and by Ben Leon in S.F..

There's no question that Naked Sword's Golden Gate series has broken new ground in gay porn. And once you start watching it, you'll probably get hooked ' so we hope the series will keep going strong for many seasons. But when Naked Sword does finally pull the plug one day, we hope Golden Gate will go out in a blaze of glory that puts even Dynasty's "Moldavian Massacre" episode to shame.
