Jordan Starr: Launching the International Content Creators Awards

It is always a delight to catch up with our super sweet and incredibly sexy pal, Jordan Starr. When we talked to Jordan last year, he had just won the Grabby Award for Best Newcomer. He is now one of the biggest and most well-known stars in the business, a regular at all of the major studios, and in the top percentile of content creators. Even at his zenith, Jordan is not done broadening his reach and doing even more for this business he loves so much. Jordan shares with us an exclusive look at his all-new International Content Creator Awards, a new industry honor focused on recognizing content creators at a global level.

How has 2024 been for Jordan Starr?

2024 has been amazing! I’ve entered my third year with some innovative industry initiatives, been honored with another Grabby, completed my 500th collab, and expanded our Starr constellation to encompass more endeavors, branching out more than ever before.

Tell us about your new International Content Creators Awards project.

We are so proud to announce the launch of the ICCA (International Content Creators Awards) to be held in May 2025 at Almar Resort in beautiful Puerto Vallarta.

This is exclusively for creators, their collaborations, and their social media achievements.

You have become one of the big names in the industry. Tell us about your assent from newcomer to award-winning porn star. How have you changed?

Our Mission has been the same from the beginning but what has changed the most is that my experiences have given me the ability and opportunity to grow more than I ever had imagined.

You are a big presence in both the studio world and the creator platforms world. Do you have a preference? What are the pros and cons of both? How do you balance doing both?

I’m so proud to have embraced a hybrid model. This approach has allowed me to reach folks in ways I never would have been able to by choosing one singular path. There is still a generation that gravitates to studio that I want to reach. And there is a part of our community in the studio industry that helped pave the way for content creation that I am so proud to have embraced and learned from. Studio is a beautiful fantasy. It’s produced and directed. The Pro is the beauty and the Con is that with production and direction, it loses authenticity. Creator platforms are the exact opposite. The pros are that it’s more authentic and without the studio production and direction. The cons are that most creator content suffers in production quality of lighting and camera. There are things I love about both, but my content is an invitation into my bedroom and my studio is me being a part of someone’s curated creation. We have adopted a ProMateur model that takes the best of both worlds, capturing an authentic connection with good lighting and camera, and that has served us well.

What are your thoughts on the ongoing competition between the two formats?

I genuinely don’t see a competition at all. The products are so completely different. Studio is competing to get those dollars back, but the fact of the matter is that those dollars are never coming back. Content creation has cannibalized the industry to where they are selling studios, making cuts, and doing layoffs. They don’t make cars with CD players anymore. I haven’t seen a DVD player in a store in years. After the DVD distribution dies that will be another hit to studio. And the fact of the matter is that it’s all about supply and demand. Technology has allowed the consumer to cut out the middle man and get a personal and direct connection to the objects of their desires. Studio can never compete with that. What studio can do is give that fantasy, and that still has a place.

Keeping the studio porn world alive while also supporting independent creators has become a really meaningful cause for you. Why is this so important to you?

I love this question. The studio community has a special place in my heart. It has been a huge passion project for me to create new and dynamic paths where studios can, not just survive, but thrive with hybrid content creation models. I think that the education and knowledge along with the skill and artistry is beneficial to creators and I think the fresh innovation of the creator world is an essentially vital infusion that the studio world so desperately needs. Pioneering hybrid models who both benefit and grow from one another can only make us stronger as a community.

How do you think ICCA will do this?

GREAT QUESTION! We will successfully do this in a number of ways. We have existing awards shows that were created decades ago before content creation was invented. They are great institutions that do great things, but they are centered around studio work. So many creators don’t do studio. So much great content is made that isn’t getting fully recognized. Also, the Award Shows are very nationalized. But the content creators are a very international community. Sadly, it’s all too clear, that unless you look like our lawmakers in this country, then it’s very difficult to visit the U.S. So many amazing creators from Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, Argentina, and more don’t have a way to get to these awards. So, we strategically chose Mexico for its embracing and ease for visitors so we could be truly inclusive to our International community. And we are so proud to be hosting in the hottest LGBT destination of Puerto Vallarta, at the most premier Almar resort, in the prime beauty and safety of the Romantica Zone. ICCA is also so warmed by the studio's support of this endeavor. I can also report that studios will be taking advantage of the international presence of our community attending creating a synergy that allows a real worthwhile and beneficial and fruitful opportunity for all involved.

You have taken on a lot more of the "business" part of the show business. Could we ever see Jordan Starr as a Director or Producer or Agent?

I’m so glad you asked. As a business major and a small business owner, we have been so fortunate by the opportunities afforded to us by Adult Entertainment. We want to leave things better than we found them and give back in a thoughtful and meaningful way. And we actually already do this. The “Starr Constellation” is ever-growing and expanding. We have “Rising Starrs” which, in the front end, is a platform to showcase up-and-coming talent, and on the back end, encompasses talent management. We have “Shooting Starrs” that, on the front end, is me shooting fellow creators, and on the back end, partners with production projects. We have “Super Starrs” which, on the front end, are the marquee collaborations, but in the back end, work on event and brand opportunities. So definitely we are proud to be diversifying into legacy endeavors.

What are some of the costars, scenarios, studios, scenes, and acts you still want to take on as you continue in the business?

We are workshopping a few different possibilities as we speak but I want to connect with something a little deeper and can’t wait to see what that holds.
