No Nut November: What's Happening To Your Junk
While some of us start our day by scrolling through porn and having a nice jerk, there's a faction of men that are celebrating No Nut November. Cause for celebration? Um, ok. LOL. This is the month when men abstain from any ejaculation. No masturbating, no sex, no climax, no release. The origins of this movement are unclear, although many say it started on Reddit. It has become a social media phenomenon, with mentions on X and even Instagram. It started around 2011 and really gained traction on social media in 2017. There's even a NoFap community on Reddit. Are there potentials in abstaining? Is it healthy? Can it be harmful? Let's discuss.
The benefits have been touted and are related to better stamina in the bedroom, an increase in sperm quality, less reliance on porn, and control in terms of willpower. Last month we talked about the health effects chronic masturbation has on the male body. But to do away with cumming for an entire month? Yikes.

Some medical experts state that not masturbating or ejaculating can actually negatively affect stamina and premature ejaculation. Things like edging can help you control how early you cum, and a regular routine can prevent erectile dysfunction. Ejaculation can also help with self-esteem and regulate anxiety and stress. It can also help with sleeping. It can also lower your heart rate.
Also, having blue balls is a very real thing. Not cumming can cause discomfort in your pelvic area, specifically the testicles. Your sperm does continue to build up, so at some point, you are gonna have to blow. If you are doing No Nut November to help with stamina in the bedroom, experts say to focus on lowering your weight and increasing your exercise, and also taking care of your mental health in terms of stress and anxiety. Other things you can do to decrease ED are taking care of your cholesterol, curbing your smoking, and cutting down on alcohol.

There's a counter-movement to No Nut November that started in 2017 called Destroy Dick December where men are encouraged to increase their sexual activity, including intercourse and masturbation. Since we are very sex-positive here, we like the sound of that month better.
There's just not enough medical evidence to suggest that taking part in No Nut November has any medical benefits. If you are trying to curb an addiction to porn or masturbating, there is therapy you can get. There are some men that take part in No Fap November as a fun challenge, like that episode of Seinfeld. But not being able to watch porn and enjoy our dick doesn't seem like a fun challenge.
