Lil Nas X Gets Buff for YSL To Celebrate Modern Masculinity
New pics of Lil Nas X are circling the internet. Our queer boy is buff and showing off his tight, lean muscles for YSL. Lil Nas has been a brand ambassador for the fashion brand for two years now. His new campaign with the company is launching MYSLF Le Parfum. YSL categorizes their new fragrance as an "intense" and "masculine fragrance" with long-lasting, woody-floral, & spicy vanilla bourbon fragrance born from the unexpected encounter of rich orange blossom, warm woods, spicy black pepper, and enhanced by velvety vanilla bourbon for a sensual & warm ambery trail.”

What more perfect spokesperson for the brand than Lil Nas X? He continues to push the boundaries as to what is masculine vs what is feminine vs what is considered the norm. He has celebrated all aspects of his sexuality and fluidity through his music, his fashion, and his live performances. He doesn't give an EFF what you think, he is being himself. The YSL campaign has the tagline, “Born MYSLF, No Matter What,” and celebrates being your authentic self and attempts to put a fragrance to the term “modern masculinity.” For the campaign, Lil Nas is sleek and simplified, showing off his lean frame and buff arms.

And what is modern masculinity? We are seeing the lines blur as even cis-straight men don fashion that could be considered feminine on the red carpets and in the media. Men in skirts? Now a thing on the red carpet. Nail polish? Check. Flowered patterns and lower cleavage? Gotcha. There is no norm of masculinity anymore, and we love that. Lil Nas has celebrated all sides.

As a brand ambassador with YSL, he has worked towards normalizing men wearing makeup. He's appeared in YSL's mascara, lipstick, and lip gloss campaigns. He wants to push the beauty boundaries and embrace individuality.
Lil Nas has yet to announce a new album, and we are waiting not so patiently. He had a bit of a rough start this year, music-wise, as his “J Christ” single was met with backlash for using religious iconography and considered blasphemous. He apologized, but why should he? This isn't the first time he played with religious themes.
