Taylor Sinn: From Politics to Pornography

Every performer in the adult industry has an interesting story about how they came to do what they do. Most performers have come to the business from a completely different life and career. One of the most unique stories of recent months is that of sexy newcomer Taylor Sinn. With his warm hazel eyes, lean muscular body, and obvious love of sex, this guy has a look that gets attention, but what makes Taylor especially fascinating is his unique backstory. Taylor has come to the world of pornography from the world of politics. For nearly a decade, Taylor defied his conservative upbringing in Florida by becoming an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and causes. This year, Taylor has begun working at what he feels will be of the most service to his beloved LGBTQ+ community and which will allow him to be his purest and most unrestrained self, by becoming a porn star. In his first industry interview, Taylor shares his unique story. As an added bonus, he uses his political and advocacy expertise to offer thoughts on how our political leadership (including our presidential candidates) impacts the LGBTQ+ and Sex Worker communities and what the communities themselves can do for protection through these heated political times.

What's your hometown?

I am from a small town in central Florida.

How did you create your stage name?

"Taylor" has always been a name I loved because it walks that fine line between masculine and feminine energy, which really speaks to me. "Sinn" was an easy choice - it’s a playful nod to those who told me, growing up, that being gay was a sin. Now I’m owning it and doing what I love. If being myself means I’m living in “sin,” then let’s just say I’m all in!

Could you share with us some of your background in Florida?

As a fifth-generation Floridian, I’ve always felt deeply connected to my home state. Early on, I discovered a passion for politics and advocacy, which led me to work as a Legislative Aide in the Florida Legislature and manage political campaigns at all levels. But the Pulse Nightclub shooting changed everything for me. That tragedy and my own coming out ignited a fire within me to advocate for my community. I joined Equality Florida to fight for my community as their Field Director. Today, whether it’s through advocacy or adult content, my goal remains the same: to challenge the status quo, live my truth, and empower others to do the same.

What was it like being brought up in a conservative environment? How were you able to overcome it?

Growing up in a conservative environment felt like I was constantly swimming upstream - there was this relentless pressure to follow a specific path that just didn’t fit me. I found myself code-switching, dressing the part, and doing everything I could to blend in. It’s taken a lot of therapy to unlearn the trauma many LGBTQ+ people experience in conservative and religious settings. But those challenges shaped my independence and taught me how to push boundaries without fear. That defiance brought me to where I am today, living authentically in a career that celebrates self-expression. For a long time, I struggled with doing what was expected of me, but now, I’m finally living unapologetically and authentically on my own terms.

How did you previous career in politics and advocacy transition into your new one in gay porn?

After over a decade in political organizing and advocacy, including the last two years as Development Director at Equality Illinois, I made the difficult but empowering decision to transition into a new career. Throughout my time in both Florida and Illinois, I endured severe burnout and faced sexual harassment, which took an undeniable toll on me. Toward the end of my time at Equality Illinois, I fought another battle - despite the organization’s work to decriminalize sex work, one of the organization’s board members tried to terminate me for engaging in sex work on my personal time. This shift into adult entertainment isn’t about abandoning my values but living them more authentically. I’ve spent my life fighting for the right to live freely and unapologetically, and now, I’m embracing that truth in a deeply personal way. Sex work has allowed me to reclaim my body, my power, and my joy, and has been so fulfilling.

How does it feel to be living such a completely different life? Any relief?

This new chapter in my life feels empowering and fulfilling in ways I never expected. After over a decade of advocacy and fighting for others, I’ve realized that fighting for myself is just as important. This isn’t about stepping away from the cause - it’s about continuing the fight in a different way. As Taylor Sinn, I’m still an advocate, still an activist, and now, an adult content creator. I’m embracing this new chapter with the same passion I brought to my years of political work, but now I’m channeling it into a space where I can live my truth and encourage others to do the same. For me, sex work is a powerful form of self-expression and liberation. By sharing my story, I hope to inspire others to embrace their joy, resist the forces that try to limit us, and stand tall in their truth. In the end, there’s nothing more revolutionary than living unapologetically yourself.

What have been some of the best surprises and hardest challenges so far?

One of the best surprises has been the incredible people I’ve met and worked with along the way. Most content creators understand how tough it can be to navigate this transition, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of people like Evan West, J Steele, Chris Crisco, Jordan Starr, and so many others who believed in me and helped me grow as a creator. As for challenges, the biggest one has been constantly pushing myself to innovate. With so many creators doing amazing work, it’s essential to stand out and connect with people in a way that feels authentic and fresh.

Drawing on your political expertise, what are your thoughts on current politicians' (and specifically our presidential candidates) effects on the sex industry, sex workers, and the LGBTQ+ Community?

Donald Trump's Project 2025 presents a direct and dangerous attack on both the sex industry and the LGBTQ+ community. By banning all pornography and LGBTQ+ content, and criminalizing those who own or share it, this initiative goes so far as to declare any and all LGBTQ+ material as inherently pornographic. This means LGBTQ+ parents, educators, and even public librarians could be prosecuted for simply providing access to LGBTQ+ literature and resources under laws targeting pornography. It’s an extreme and terrifying escalation that puts millions at risk, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community.

Trump’s Project 2025 also advocates for the imprisonment of anyone involved in producing or distributing adult content, a threat that directly impacts millions of adult content creators. The risk to those in the sex industry is enormous, but it’s clear that LGBTQ+ sex workers would bear the brunt of these new laws, pushing us further into the shadows and exposing them to increased violence and exploitation.

At the same time, the Democratic Party has failed to offer adequate protections for sex workers. While Kamala Harris voiced support for the decriminalization of sex work back in 2019, we’re still waiting for real action. The protections enjoyed by other labor industries in this country are still denied to those of us in sex work, leaving us vulnerable and unprotected. It’s time for all political leaders to recognize that sex work is work, and that protecting our rights is essential to protecting the rights of all communities.

Do you have any suggested policies that our politicians and/or the industry could instate or champion to provide better protection for sex workers? How could we achieve this?

There are several critical policies that lawmakers at every level need to prioritize to protect sex workers: decriminalizing sex work, securing labor protections, enacting anti-discrimination laws, and safeguarding digital platform protections. From my perspective, the full decriminalization of sex work is absolutely essential. Over 75% of sex workers will face sexual violence at some point in their careers. Criminalization doesn’t just make us more vulnerable to violence - it keeps us from reporting the assaults and harassment many of us endure. It also limits our access to health care, feeds into mass incarceration, and further marginalizes some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

The reality is simple: sex workers deserve the same legal protections as anyone else. We should be able to do our jobs without fearing violence or arrest, access healthcare without facing discrimination, and seek justice when we’re harmed. Decriminalizing sex work would ensure we are protected by the law, not targeted by it, allowing us to work safely and with dignity, just like anyone else.

The biggest step toward addressing these issues is normalizing sex work. We and our allies need to have the tough conversations that shift hearts and minds, educate our communities, and break down the stigma that surrounds us. No matter what people think about sex work, we should all agree that no one should be assaulted or killed for engaging in consensual adult work.

What can you share with us about your recent venture into studio work? How was that first experience for you? Any surprises?

My first studio scene was an unforgettable experience that I’ll always cherish. What really surprised me was the level of attention to detail and, more importantly, the emphasis on consent. It was reassuring to see such a strong commitment to creating a safe and positive environment for everyone involved. It was an amazing experience, and I’m excited to continue studio work!

What are your plans and ambitions in the industry moving forward?

My ultimate dream is to become an AVN and Grabby winner, but beyond that, I’m focused on continuing to grow in the industry. I want to keep creating innovative and exciting content, while also taking on more studio work. Most importantly, I want my content to be a space where people can escape their daily stresses and find some joy and relief. For me, it’s not just about success in the industry - it’s about connecting with people and offering them something meaningful through my content.

Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of porn. Interests? Hobbies? Beliefs? Who is the real Taylor?

Outside of porn, the gym is a big part of my life. It’s where I can clear my head, focus, and challenge myself. But when I really want to unwind, you’ll find me at the beach or by the pool - and if there aren’t tacos and margaritas, am I really unplugging? My social circle is also incredibly important to me. When I’m with my friends, I can fully let my hair down and just be myself. Meditation is part of my daily routine. It helps me stay grounded and connected, both to myself and to the people around me. The real Taylor is all about balance - challenging myself, finding joy, and being deeply connected to my inner peace and my community.

How do you define a true "Porn Star"?

A “Porn Star” isn’t just someone who performs on camera - it’s someone who embodies confidence, authenticity, and professionalism in everything they do. It’s about creating connections with your audience, standing out in a crowded industry, and constantly pushing yourself to evolve and innovate. A porn star knows their worth, embraces their sexuality without shame, and understands the power of their presence. It’s not just about the scenes; it’s about the impact you make and the space you create for others to feel seen and empowered.

Is Taylor Sinn going to become one? How?

Definitely! Becoming a porn star is about much more than just showing up for scenes. It’s about building a brand that reflects who I am and creating content that feels authentic. I’ll keep evolving, collaborating with talented creators, and thinking outside the box to keep things fresh and exciting. It’s also about staying true to myself and pushing my boundaries, both personally and professionally, while remembering why I started: to live my truth and inspire others to do the same. I know I’m on the right path to becoming the porn star I aspire to be.
