Working Out & Orgasm
There's an assumption out there that athletes who orgasm before a game or competition will do worse. This has also carried over to the fitness world with gymgoers refraining from jerking off or having sex before a workout. There are professional coaches out there who demand their players restrict from having relations with themselves or anyone else before a big game. Where does this idea come from? Is there any validity to these claims?
Surprisingly, this no orgasm before athleticism is not anything new, not by a long shot. Greek philosopher Plato was one of the first guys on record who said that Olympians who engaged in sexual activity before competing would fail. Then in 1 AD, there was a Greek physician named Aretaeus who wrote a journal stating that a man could gain strength by retaining semen. Well, all of that is bunk. The superstition is not true.

The motivation for this belief comes from the fact that if an athlete refrains from coming, they will get agitated and somehow build up aggression that will help them on the field or in the gym. The thought is also that if a guy has an orgasm, he is relaxed and not so competitive. This has never been proven.
The University of Florence in Italy conducted a study and researched over 500 published findings in connection with sports, sex, and performance as related to orgasm. There is no proof that has been gathered that can give a reason for abstaining before fitness exertion. Jerk away!

An interesting case study was done in 1968 when historian Warren R. Johnson used a hand dynamometer and measured the endurance of the bicep and hand muscles in a group of men the morning after they had sex. There was no difference in any case. P.S. This testing could be the setup of a great porn scene, Carnal+, are you listening?
In fact, some of the journals believe that having an orgasm before can relieve stress that could affect endurance and focus. If your body is relaxed, it is not tense and prone to injury as well. Also, an orgasm can release endorphins that can help overall energy. From a psychological standpoint, those who engage in regular sex tend to have a high self-esteem which can help in anything fitness-related.
