Gay Twink Rapper PrettiBoi Roq Is Revving Up Engines Once Again
There's a new steamy jam heating up the summer. Rapper PrettiBoi is at it again with his hot off-the-press single, "In My Ride." It's a California-themed bop based on his real-life short, but hot, relationship. He tells us, “I had just ended a long-term relationship and was discouraged with the dating scene when I met my ‘In My Ride’ guy. He showed me I could connect with someone and that I had the ability to love again.”

"In My Ride" comes off the heels of the success of his "Bad Bitch Alert" single. Prettiboi wanted to show a different side of his music and show is versatility as an artist. He believes that there is plenty of ass-shaking and hookups in gay hip hop, but not so much focus on real romance, even though that is as important as the ass-shaking.
"In My Ride" is giving us the good Katy Perry years, pop and summer come to play. The music video shows us a young, cute couple on their first date, celebrating the Southern California landscape. Things start to heat up, and the couple ends up coming together in an intimate way.
PrettiBoi Roq has had an interesting life. He grew up in a small town in North Carolina. The artist has been very open about his upbringing. His mother was a drug addict, and his parents divorced. He was raised by his religious father and stepmother. He left the house when he was just 18, after dealing with being picked on for his sexuality, and even the clothes he wore. He arrived in Los Angeles and started working in the entertainment industry. From there, he got hooked on hip hop and everything about it - the lyrics, the lifestyle, and the themes.
PrettiBoi released his first single in December of 2015. "Prettiboi Anthym" was a hit. He released his self-titled EP a year later. He released a mouthwatering music video with adult film star Arad Winwin, "You Don't Own Me."

As Prettiboi has matured, he is now making music for himself, rather than what he thinks fans want to hear. It has added sincerity and intimacy to his layered work. Keep them coming, Prettiboi!
