Plane Jane - Friend or Foe?
It is only till the closing of Season 16 that we finally get to see a softer side of finalist Plane Jane. Ruffling feathers and eyelashes with her biting wit, dry humor, and passive-aggressive Werk Room comments, Drag Race fans weren't sure if Plane Jane was just being catty, or if she was just a flat-out bully. Co-star Amanda Tori Meating was very open about her dealings with Plane Jane, there was no love lost there. Fans believe it was Plane Jane's constant verbal attacks on Amanda that led to her early elimination from the show. According to Amanda and her chat with Billboard, things are now amicable at most. Well, apparently Plane Jane is at home, basking in the glory of being a Season 16 finalist because this girl has been BUSY on social media, and do our eyes confuse us? Is she being nice?
Plane Jane's fellow cast member Q has had a rough time of it on social media. During a Queen's debut season, having social media is a huge benefit to a drag career. Supposed Drag Race fans came out of the woodwork making hateful comments on Q's social media. So much so that Q deleted her X account. Drag Race Queens are used to having very vocal social media followers, but the focused social media attacks just seemed bizarre and unfounded. An especially touching episode occurred when Q shared her HIV status with the nation. She recently told Billboard that she takes her relationship with social media and the haters one day at a time, but that the experience has certainly shaped her overall experience. Having shared some catty back and forth, Plane Jane weighed in.
I used to be able to clown on my sister Q so fiercely but now I can’t because she’s actually down about how the fanbase is treating her. Thanks a lot twitter for ruining that for me

And she followed that up by saying at the end of the day, Q was sickening - in a good way. We are on the fence. Plane Jane does take responsibility for her "fierce clowning," but how much did those attacks feed into the fan-based frenzy? There is a fine line between wanting to be the witty one of the season and being a toxic shit-stirrer.
There are also fan comments that range from she is a much-needed mean girl helping to up the level of competition - it is a competition - while some fans say it shows that white Queens get an easier pass to get away with more than others. In the last episode, Plane Jane softened things up by talking about her insecurities and how they manifest themselves in her outward behavior. Is that an excuse? We have seen some of the cracks in her mask in the last couple of weeks, does that excuse her sometimes vicious tongue?
