Art & Music, My Life Beyond Porn

Nick Floyd has been on the scene for a relatively short time, getting into the business when he was 21 years old. Already, he's worked with two major studios, currently serves as a Cockboys exclusive, and has garnered multiple industry award nominations. An artist, musician, and fashion designer at heart, he's studied his craft through schooling and self-teaching. After designing and manufacturing his own club fetish wear, he turned to camming to get more eyes on his creations. Camming led to OnlyFans and ultimately to studio work.

Despite his voracious energy on camera, in person, he is demure, sweet, and down to earth. Nick has an artistic flair in how he presents himself, from his fashion to what he likes to talk about. Last week, for the first time, he shared his musician side with his fans. His debut album, Weird Kid After Party, is a collection of electronic, dark beats, that set the scene for a very different after party. It is infectious and sensual with a bit of a sly smile, just like him.

We chatted with Nick about his view of the adult industry, his art, his future plans, and his personal life beyond the camera.

A large part of your life is in art and music. How do you balance that part of your life with the adult industry?

With the industry I do, I keep it pretty professional with the people I work with in that regard, like this is just my job, not a date. In my personal life out and about, I think at my core I just don’t go out as much anymore like to parties or clubs. The balance I’d say isn't there yet, striving to find one or find another path.

Your first studio work was with SayUncle. What was that experience like and what did you learn about the industry early on?

Well, let me just say the people who work for them are extremely nice and accommodating, the machine that is SayUncle is tough for first-timers, who they usually hire, with long hours and questionable script themes (some are fun). I always say I’m glad I started with them because the harder days, no pun intended, are mostly in the But every studio works differently and has its pros and cons, so it just depends on how you wanna be represented, but they, in particular, are very nice and I love who they hire behind the scenes.

You have become a fan and award favorite pretty quickly. To what do you attribute your success?

I can honestly say for the most part I don’t know. I think at the beginning I genuinely loved the craft of porn making, so maybe they saw that or saw me put my legs behind my head, who knows which rang them in, haha, but I honestly am very grateful for everything they've given me and hope they’re into Nick Floyd for the long run outside of the porn.

You are now a Cockyboy exclusive. What do you like about being an exclusive?

Well, they're great people to work with which makes my job way too easy, so it's always a pleasure. Exclusive does give you a kinda set number of jobs a month so it's nice not to be up in the I like how they shoot and represent their models. Other studios have put out horrendous images of me, and Cockboys just would never because of their artistic way of pursuing porn rather than just viewing it as some “whatever shoot” to hit the mark every week.

You just released a new album, Weird Kid After Party. What was the inspiration for the album and why release it now?

Well, I've been pursuing so many creative outlets, but this is just the first I’ve kinda made public to the people who follow me I’ve teased paintings and sewed outfits for some parties but I really wanted to put an instrumental album out that was for the more weird audience to enjoy and put on in the background, and talk to someone without being interrupted by lyrical music. Don’t get me wrong I very much enjoy that kinda music as well, I also just can't sing, haha! I’m also working on a more sad album called Sad Kid Pregame, so look out for that.

Is Nick Floyd a “weird kid?”

I think a weird kid is an understatement for sure, especially in my younger days I was probably that kid you were scared of, only because I was very lonely and had no friends, dressed only in Goodwill clothes that looked like grandma acid Not the look to make friends or date, but currently, I’m more of a weird loner.

What is your creative process when putting a new song together?

Well, the first album was more a test to see if I could even make it, then when that's all I committed my days to, I made Weird Kid Afterparty in 3 weeks. I really play with storytelling and what I’d like to hear doing certain activities, so the titles really influence the But when I'm putting it together, I really have no idea where it's going to go until I play around for a while. For Sad Kid Pregame, I’m intentionally listening to sadder songs everywhere I go, feeling the sad emotions, maybe drinking more, but it's making the process go a lot slower.

Do you think someone can have a successful career in music while in the adult industry? Has that stigma started to go away?

Well, the actress Chloe Cherry actually inspired me to go into the adult world in general. Seeing her succeed in the real acting world and on fashion shows made me feel like this isn't the end for anyone's It never should have or should be, but people see it in a certain way and I’m very aware of that when it comes to other jobs. But I think within the arts, including music, you can definitely go on to have any career you want if you're passionate about it.

What are the biggest misconceptions people have about you from your porn work?

That I’m a hypersexual party twink. My energy for some reason is always -20% or looks like I'm much more laid back and really don't even have that much sex off-camera than people think. I have less sex now doing porn than I did before I’ll say that.

You have said that you don’t want to be in the industry forever. When will you know when it’s time to leave and say goodbye to Nick Floyd?

Well, I don't want to get to a point where I’m at my limit and break or not getting cast anymore to quit, but more so maybe quit at a good uptime, slowly move onto something more casual, or full tilt play the killer in an indie horror movie, which is such a passion of Horror movies - not being a killer! But I just feel some people can do porn for such a long time and be happy and I just don't know if I'm that person.

You work on art, and music, and have even done fashion. What do you know what to focus on most?

I go through big cycles, one burst of weeks I’ll be sewing every day planning a cowboy fetish fashion show, and the next making six songs for Sad Kid Pregame. It’s really about harnessing those creative spurts and not tarnishing them into a longevity that maybe isn't productive. Like forcing myself to stick to something would make the work bad or incomplete.

What have you learned most about the business side of the adult industry?

It’s definitely a machine of sorts, always someone ready to take your place if you're not feeling up for I find some of the behind-the-scenes business stuff very fascinating and fun, but also sad at the same time maybe. The industry attracts such creative open-minded creators, and in any industry, there's always someone there to either help you succeed or scam you into something quite unfortunate. Also with an industry that doesn’t have many laws at all to protect you, it's just difficult at the beginning.

Do you have any regrets about getting into the adult industry at such a young age?

I started at 21 years old which, to many, is pretty older than some. I’ve had so many conversations of people starting their careers on their 18th birthday, which is definitely a choice. I have no regrets because I love what I created, love what I got to do, and live a life meeting some cool, and some not-so-cool people, and overall creating Nick Floyd, which I have no regret about.

How do you balance love and dating while in the industry?

I do not balance it, haha, I’m very single. I’d like to find someone who can tell me an answer to that. Maybe at this point, it's more work on myself and Nick Floyd than having a boyfriend.

What advice do you have for someone who is just getting into camming or doing OnlyFans?

I’d ask what are your reasons for why you want to join the industry first? But the advice, I’d say, which helped me is to stay Find a region of porn that fits you like a niche and really market that. Also never do anything you're not comfortable with just because you're new or think you deserve to take it. We are all still equals beyond the followers and egos so never let anyone treat you with disrespect for any reason.

What are you most excited about on your career horizon?

Well, frankly, I have no idea what's next. I’m hoping for something creative, I’m probably moving soon, nothing like out of LA but somewhere I’m also hoping to release more albums for the fun of it, release clothing or paintings because I went to school for it, or at the very least just strive to be more happy.

What is your message to your fans?

My message to my fans is such a huge thank you and I wouldn’t have such a creative outlet and job without you. I know so many don’t get the opportunity that deserve it a lot more than me, so thank you. I’m very glad you like what I’ve been putting out and hope you like what comes next.
