Grindr Fails: Cross-Dressing, Trolling, and Looking Like A Top

Hello and welcome back to another edition of Grindr Fails! As a consumer of memes and internet humor, this is quickly becoming my favorite day of the week! In this week’s post, we’re talking about some crazy and wild Grindr conversations! There’s an instance of Grindr trolling! It’ll make sense later. And how exactly does someone seem like a top from a short conversation? It’s beyond me. And lastly, we’ve got a cross-dressing situation! It’s all fun and games until you get asked to wear ladies’ clothing! 

This started out mildly triggering for me. As a drag queen, I have absolutely had people from anonymous profiles try to clock me online. They’ll message me saying they know I’m a drag queen as if they’re exposing me or something! In this case, however, the guy in the blue chat is looking for someone who crossdresses. And it would seem like mister yellow chat is not into that. And I’m not sure how I feel about his response. Maybe just say you aren’t into cross-dressing and move on. It does prompt the guy in the blue to talk about his huge dick. So it’s not all bad!

This one started out relatively normal. But someone please help me understand what about this exchange makes the guy in yellow “seem like a top”. Are we judging based on the profile photo? People seem to just assume someone’s sexual preference with so little information. We should be asking! Not assuming! And just because someone’s profile photo is their butt, it doesn’t mean they’re looking to bottom. We can do all things! We can be multi-layered and nuanced and go with the flow! Or you can be this guy who suddenly has a boyfriend when he doesn’t get the response he wants.

Sometimes bad things can happen to good people. And sometimes even bad people don’t deserve bad things. I say that to say, this man in blue is absolutely ruthless. He is trolling the man in the yellow chat, and the poor guy has no idea what’s coming. I wish I could see what happened next! Or maybe the guy in the yellow got annoyed and stopped responding. That’s something I would do! It’s kind of humiliating, and frankly, not a great way to get someone to have sex with you. I can’t imagine this trick works very often.
