The best thing about when the world switched from VHS to DVD was the advent of bonus material on the home version. While porn studios got this for awhile, they have totally given up.
Occasionally these days all you'll see under the special features heading on the DVD is a "cumshot review" and maybe a blooper reel or some behind the scenes footage (the exception was Raging Stallions "To The Last Man" which had countless interviews and an "anatomy of a scene" type feature, well done!). After blowing a giant load watching Tyler Saint ram Bruno Bond in "Red Light" last night, we decided to click and see what kind of features the video had. The menu was full of Falcon movie trailers!
Now, we love a trailer as much as the next 'mo, but why not put them in a section called "trailers?" This isn't a real bonus or that special (trailers followed the feature even in the old VCR days). So, let's just call a spade a spade, shall we?
If the adult industry wants viewers to have the incentive to buy the DVD as opposed to streaming the content online (or even worse, pirating it), then it's time to beef up the features. Michael Lucas would routinely hide an extra sex scene in there (and still puts extra water sports or kink footage) which alone is a reason to fork over the big bucks for the hard copy. That's the way to do it! Right now, we're giving putting a bunch of trailers the big red light-as in stop.
