For every drugged up, broken down, or murderous pornstar who captures our base imagination, there's Francois Sagat. The feisty Frenchman's sleeve of oddball tricks are daringly inspired and socially current. Here's what's new with one of gay porn's good guys.
Although he's slowed down from making mainstream XXX, the guy with the scalp tattoo is still keeping busy. He recently did a photo shoot with Terry Richardson for Out magazine to give his own unique spin on gays in the military. If the barracks really looked like this, we'd stand at attention 24/7.
Despite his penchant for insane art-freak vids and outlandish outfits, a profile coming out in the March issue of Out shows a refreshingly level-headed dude. Nevermind that he simulated fucking corpses in the controversial L.A. Zombie. This is the guy, mind you, who made the world's sexiest safe sex vid.
Who'd have thunk the megahunk was a childhood nelly queen?
Of his teenage years, he asks, "How do you say when you're not happy in high school? You get bullied? I was feminine. My appearance was very discreet, but my behavior was feminine. I was always shy, until I did porn when I was 25. Before that, I didn't know if I had this power or not."
Or that he dreams of a career making mainstream films?
He complains about his transition from porn to film. "I was used in [indie films L.A. Zombie and Man at Bath] as an object of fascination," he says, going on to sound like any anxious matinee idol. "We still don't know if I can support the movie on my shoulders," he worries. "We don't know if I have the real power or not."
So what does Sagat want? Another legit film, for starts, but the decks are stacked.
It ain't easy to go from getting pounded by men on camera to serious actor. Just ask Ryan Idol. As hardworking and original as Francois is, we hope the right project comes a-calling.
