Epic Fail: Fox News Tried To Guess RuPaul’s Last Name

CELEBRITY

Fox News, a channel that is adored by Trump, his team, and literally no one else, needs to do a little fact-checking of its own before reporting... well, anything. In the latest Fox News flub, the network's website features a story that includes none other than Mama Ru herself, but instead of doing a quick search for RuPaul's last name, the site just took a not-so-lucky guess - and used it's very weak context clues - and went with "Paul."

The report, which still has not been edited to fix the name, is actually about Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, who is going to be a guest judge on this seasons RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars. In the report, writer Tyler McCarthy (I pray there's no relation to Jenny and Melissa) attempts to use RuPaul's last name to show that he's a damn good writer and does all his research before printing on a topic. He failed.

In his sad attempt to explain to the readers what the show is all about, Tyler misuses RuPaul's name yet again.

"For those unfamiliar with the show, it takes various drag queens and assigns them various challenges each episode that Paul and other judges then use to decide who wins."

First off, no Tyler, that's NOT the entire premise of the show. Next time do a little more research and actually watch it, okay? Also, it's RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, not RuPaul's Drag Race. That's a completely different show. And don't use the word "various" so much, either. It's weird.

Take a look at the report for yourself. If anything it's proof the mistake existed (not that facts matter at Fox News).

For those of you who aren't aware that Mama Ru does, in fact, have a last name, it's not Paul (although Ru would go well with Ron and Rand if he ever wanted to get into politics I guess). RuPaul Andre Charles was named by his mother, Ernestine 'Toni' Charles. Per Wikipedia, and my own knowledge of what I refer to as 'RuPop Culture,' "‘Ru’ came from roux, which is the term for the base of gumbo and other creole stews and soups.”

Take this as a lesson, Fox News. As for next time, good luck, and...
