The plight of the gay ginger! Fetishized? Worshipped? Shunned? If you look at gay social media, you'll see a bevy of differing opinions on being a gay ginger. Some guys werk their red hair and freckles and use it to their advantage. Some say their ginger status makes them less of a catch. And some don't want to be called ginger! What's a gay to do? One of our favorite hookup apps Sniffies took to social media this week to highlight the plight of a gay ginger, and we are all for it.

Sniffies did a series of posts with musician Ricky Allson. Ricky shared some of his thoughts and experiences about being a gay ginger in today's dating world.

In Ricky's first Sniffies confessional, he says that being called a fire crotch is triggering and that he blocks anyone who calls him that. The term first appeared in the early 1990s in online forums and as taunts on the playground. In 1994, there was a New York Times article about harassment in schools that cataloged the word fire crotch as a classroom slur. This year, Lindsay Lohan urged the producers of the new Mean Girls film to cut the fire crotch joke from the digital release, and they did. The gays are undecided, some say the term is a slur, and some say it is a compliment and fetish.

Sniffies also talked to Logan with the Red Hair. According to him, being a ginger has done him quite well, and that he's been approached and propositioned just because of the color of his hair. Check it out.

There are a lot of random theories about gingers. They are an endangered species, they have different layers of skin, they have a different pain tolerance, and they don't respond to anesthesia. Wait, what?

Apparently, you should never ask a gay ginger if the carpet matches the drapes. Isn't that just an interior decorator inquiry?

Is being called a ginger a red button? Some say the term is a slur and should never be used. Some say it is ok if the red-haired person tells you it's ok. And some of the gays so it's a compliment and simply a descriptive. According to some of the online slang dictionaries, the word ginger also means fiery personality. How can that be a bad thing?
