New Movie Trailer Roundup! What Premiered at the Super Bowl

MOVIES

Fleshbot At the Movies graphic film screen with pride flags

We know we truly only watch the Super Bowl for the guys in jockstraps, the fantastic commercials, the halftime show, and Hollywood's biggest and newest trailers. This year, some biggies were dropped, and one in particular two melt our gay hears.

Here are the movie trailers, and our take, that dropped during Sunday's game!

Wicked

Let's face it, this is the one we really wanted to see. After being teased with cryptic Instagram posts and subtle photos from the set, we finally get our first peek (and listen) to the long-awaited film version of Broadway's Wicked. The trailer did not let us down. We got to see everything: the dynamic duo in their iconic costumes, the Wizard, hot Jonathan Bailey, Elphaba's signature green skin, flying monkeys, Oz, the flying broom, Michelle Yeoh, and even Dorothy and her yellow brick road friends.  The gays went crazy sharing this all over social media, loving it. There were some nasty gays that took umbrage with Cynthia Erivo's changing Elphaba's riff at the end of the song "Defying Gravity." Gays, it's her version of the character, why would you just want the same version we've seen in every production? We definitely give this trailer a thumbs-up!

Deadpool & Wolverine

Perhaps even more anticipated in the world than the Wicked movie for the normies, is Deadpool 3. And we got an eye full. Getting the official title, Deadpool & Wolverine, this will be Deadpool's first movie as part of the MCU, in the trailer he refers to himself as "Marvel Jesus." We see that Deadpool has conditioned himself to a normal life but is pulled back into the superhero world and joined by the ranks of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. This is everything that we've been expecting - humor, action, and more humor. We love it.

IF

If you need more Ryan Reynolds this year, then IF is the film for you. Get it? The Super Bowl spot was a bit disappointing. We know more about the movie from earlier trailers, so nothing new here. To be honest, the film looks like it's trying too hard. Also, is it us, or is Ryan Reynolds's acting starting to get a little weary?

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

To be honest, there have been so many Planet of the Apes movies and reboots and sequels that we've lost count. This is a direct sequel to the last trilogy, set years after the fact. In the trailer we get the basic idea, humans are being hunted as the apes have taken over, some apes will fight against the reigning ape in believing humans are capable of coexisting in harmony. Fat chance, have you seen all the other films? LOL. While the CGI looks good, this looks like content we've already seen before.

Twisters

For those of us old enough to remember, Twister was awe-inspiring for its CGI work back in 1996. Yes, we said 1996. It's been a long time. Starring Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton, it showed scientists looking to study twisters and then getting literally sucked into it. The trailer for Twisters has some stuff we've already seen before, but this time there are two twisters. Lol, okay sequel title, calm down. We aren't sure what new offering this will bring, but we get a hot Glen Powell in a wet t-shirt. We don't see anything from Helen Hunt, not sure if she is returning to the franchise. And why did this take so long?

Inside Out 2

A second helping of Inside Out, looks cute, more of the first. This time they've added anxiety...great, just what we all need.

Monkey Man

Monkey Man gives us a dark glimpse at Dev Patel in his bid to become Hollywood's next action star. He is super fight and ripped and kicking ass....Slumdog Millionaire has grown up! Patel also directed the movie and Jordan Peele Executive Produced. It features a story we've seen before - kid grows up to avenge his childhood trauma by getting fit and learning how to fight, Batman without the outfit. This iteration looks pretty good and already is getting some really positive buzz.

Which trailer was your favorite? Which one will you see first?
