France Gets Its First-Ever Gay Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal

Gabriel Attal is making political history in France, and here all we can think about is his baguette. The 24-year-old French politician from Clamart, Île-de-France is making French history as the youngest-ever Prime Minister and the first-ever openly gay PM. France President Emmanuel Macron, looking to revitalize his image amid dropping poll numbers and national discontent, named Gabriel as the second most powerful man in France.

As one of France’s most popular politicians, Gabriel Attal served as the French government’s official spokesperson during the 2020 COVID pandemic, and then later served as Macron’s education minister. A member of the Renaissance party, Attal is one of France's fast-growing politicians. Thanks to his ability to speak on his feet about a variety of topics plaguing the nation. His oral skills have dubbed him the nickname the Word Sniper.

Gabriel Attal was appointed by Macron to replace Elisabeth Borne, after a 20-month tenure marked by unrest in France, protests, and more. Macron’s party is behind in the French poll before this summer’s 2024 elections, where he will take on the country's terrible far-right leader Marine Le Pen.

Attal, who polls say is the most well-liked member of Macron’s cabinet, knows that he has a battle ahead of him.

“I’m well aware of the context in which I take on this job,” he told Reuters. “Too many French doubt our country, doubt themselves or our future. I think in particular of the middle class … who get up every morning to go to work … and sometimes can’t make ends meet.”

A son of the French elite, Gabriel Attal grew up in private academies. In 2018, he became the Junior Minister to the Minister of National Education and Youth, making him the youngest person to serve in the Government of France.

He's obviously gorgeous as fuck so naturally (he's Pete Buttigieg mixed with Antoni Porowski), we're like, is she single? Is he a top? What's his deal? Well, apparently, Gabriel Attal is in a civil partnership with the equally handsome and brilliant Stéphane Séjourné. The 38-year-old is a MEP and secretary general of the Renaissance party and he served as one of Macron’s political advisers until 2021. Talk about a political power couple!
