Sir Jet Talks About Her New Single “Male Femininity,” Europop, & Being Embraced by the Porn Industry

PORN GALLERIES

Q&A with porn star Sir Jet. Sir Jet standing in yellow briefs against a brick wall.
It doesn't get much hotter or more uniquely talented than the gender-fluid muscle-bottom Sir Jet. This performer has remained true to herself in the enormously competitive worlds of Gay Porn and Music. While this is a very brave and respectable choice, Jet has also shared her concern that choosing to be herself may have held her back. In this intimate interview, Sir Jet shares how she is determined to remain her unique self while still finding the enormous success in music and erotica that she deserves.

What is the latest with Sir Jet?

I’m getting ready to release my new single, "Male Femininity" on September 29th, and the video on October 6. It’ll be my first single with a video release since 2020’s "Empowered Bottom."

What kind of musician would you describe yourself as?

I’m the voice and the lyricist. I can’t write music so I usually approach a producer with someone else’s song and say, “Can you create a song for me like this?” Most of my reference songs are Europop because my sound is very that. Ironically though, I’ve never actually worked with any European producers, but I’d love to get a chance to create a song with Max Martin.

Who are some of your musical influences? Singers? Styles? etc.

My absolute faves as a teenager were Roxette and Ace of Base. I also listened to a lot of singer/songwriters from the late '90s/early 2000s, like Sarah McLaughlin, Darren Hayes, Melanie C, and Vonda Shepard. I love sad songs. Sadness is what makes a song good, whether it’s the words or simply the melody. Nothing can beat a great sad song.

Tell us about this latest song. What is it about? How is it special?

I’ve been an entertainer for almost twenty years, and whether it’s been in the porn industry, music industry, or modeling, I’ve always been criticized for being soft-spoken and feminine. They say the outside doesn’t match the personality, and it makes them uncomfortable. I’ve also been promised the world by so many managers, agents, etc., if only I follow their rules and be a good obedient boy. When I’ve tried to tone it down and just be a guy, not only does it not lead to anything, but the people who said they would help don’t deliver either. This song is about abandoning all those rules and criticisms and deciding to just be myself, a feminine man, and not caring whether it helps or hurts my career.

How does your music work relate to your adult film work?

When I made the decision to join the porn industry, the goal was to find some way to resurrect my music career in a way that hadn’t been done before. I was going to become the pop star of gay porn. I needed the money to make music again because I missed that creative part of my life, and doing porn was the only way (at the time) to get the kind of money songs require. But I also knew that by doing porn, I was canceling out the opportunity to ever be considered mainstream. It was a risk I was willing to take for the sake of my art. So I started writing songs that dealt with my experiences in the porn industry. What I didn’t entail in my equation was the one variable that could destroy everything: that the porn industry didn’t want a pop star. And so what happened was I constantly was trying to fit in with the porn standards of appearance, but still maintain my artistic integrity as a gender-fluid singer. It’s a constant struggle because I want to be creative, but I also want to be accepted so I can earn the money to be creative. And it’s strange too: I have people telling me I don’t push the envelope hard enough: they want more high heels, more lingerie, more fem mini skirts, more pink hair. Then I have people telling me I push it too hard: just be a guy, take off the lingerie, focus on the muscles. I don’t know who is right, nor do I know who to give more of, so I started doing both, but it just means I get more requests for whichever side I’m not pushing at the moment.

How are they different?

The words in my songs tend to be more about how I see myself, whereas the porn I do tends to be more about how others want to see me. I understand who I am and what people want to see of me, but it’s not necessarily how I see myself; so when you listen to the words of my songs, that’s the me I wish people would see, whereas when I perform, that’s who they want me to be.

What is your latest in the adult film industry?

After four years of being told “no” over and over again, I got my first “yes” last month and booked a scene with Pantheon Men. It was directed by Brian Davilla and costars Parker Matson. I’m guessing it will be out in a few months. It felt really nice to be back, so I hope I don’t mess things up again — lol.

Because all the fans ask, what has been your favorite scene so far and why?

Honestly, I would say my first scene with Markie Moore for Next Door. It just felt so natural, and I had been up for days wondering if it would feel odd to be having sex on camera, but in the moment it was just so easy and natural, and so I had this confidence building in myself that I had found something I enjoyed doing.

What are some things you have yet to achieve in music and in porn that you still want to do?

In music, I’d like to tour and perform with dancers like a real recording artist. I’d like to go to Europe and work with all the amazing pop music producers. As a porn actor, I’d like to be finally accepted as a performer and booked by the big studios again. Two scenes six years ago weren’t enough, and I feel like I’ve put in the work taking all their notes and delivering the package they were waiting for. I’d like for the studios to stop doubting my ability to draw a profit and treat me as someone worth their time.
