Jordan Jayro’s Drag Race Season 15 Recap: Episode 9, The Crystal Ball: Episode 200

DRAG RACE

Jordan Jayro's Reviews of RuPaul's Drag Race

Hello, gorgeous! It’s that time of the week! I’m back with yet another recap of this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race: TikTok Versus The World! Last week was the Lip Sync Lalaparuza Smackdown, and I can confidently say that it was one of my favorite episodes of Drag Race in a long time! Even though there was no challenge winner! Let’s get into this week’s episode!

It is yet another gorgeous day in the werk room! The girls are lamenting the loss of Jax, who coincidentally had to lip sync five times!! Anetra wipes away her lipstick message, and it feels so gross to me. Does that mean Anetra was in the bottom for the lip sync episode?! She’s one of the best lip sync performers on the show!! It’s clear to me that production needed her in as many lip syncs as possible to keep it interesting.

RuPaul enters the werk room in a status print blouse! It's Ver-sayce! He tells the queens that for this week’s mini challenge, they’re photobombing iconic Drag Race moments! It’s episode 200, so there have to be a million Drag Race references! Anetra wins the mini challenge! In her picture, she was doing a cannonball into the bathtub where Willow Pill was about to take a bath with a toaster. It’s an iconic moment we all remember from season 14. Anetra is so funny! And she deserves something after everything she did in last week's episode. I don’t think her humor is talked about enough. She gives great talking head too!

Now Ru tells the queens that for this week’s maxi challenge, they’re having a ball!! That means the queens will serve three looks each: look one is an updated version of RuPaul’s classic racing suit, look two is a recreation of a previous iconic ball look, and look three is a crystal-themed look made using materials provided! This will be so fun! With nine queens showing three looks each, we’re going to see a total of 27 looks on the runway! I'm not exhausted at all!

We finally get a walk-through this week! Fashion superstar Carson Kressley joins RuPaul to terrorize and gaslight the queens! Of course, they gave Spice a hard time about her runways being boring. I agree, she really needs to step it up on the runway. And everywhere else. Salina Estitties is feeling the pressure this week since she was already in the bottom on a design challenge. I still don’t think she deserved to lip sync that week!! I choose to believe that she was out there to send Amethyst home, and that’s a hill I’m winning to die on. As always, the walk-throughs feel very much like foreshadowing.

Let’s talk about the runway!! RuPaul is doing a number! Someone give her a dollar! I love anytime she can stand around, step touch, and walk back and forth while sexy men dance around her. It’s goals, to be honest. Now, about these looks!! The first category is Start Your Engines! Some of my favorites were Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Sasha Colby. I was not living for Malaysia or Loosey. The second category was My Favorite Ball! Some standouts for me were Mistress and Luxx, even though Luxx’s look is a direct rip-off of Naomi Smalls’ Vegas promo look. Google it!! My least favorites in this category were Malaysia again and Estitties. The final category is Crystalized Eleganza! Mistress, Estitties, and Anetra were my favorites in this category!! They all really slayed this design challenge! Marcia and Spice were the bottoms for me in this category.

Sasha Colby is the winner of this week’s maxi challenge!! Anetra and Mistress were close behind her though! It was a great week for all three of them! The bottom two this week were Salina Estitties and Spice! They lip sync to “That’s What I Want” by Lil Nas X. Estitties really sold the song and told a story!! Spice took more of a comedic approach. In the end, Estitties won the lip sync, sending Spice home! She will be missed!

That’s all for this week! Next week’s episode will show the top 8 queens conducting one-on-one interviews! If we’ve learned anything from season 6, it’s that an interview challenge always invites chaos! I can’t WAIT to see how this turns out! Come back next week to see how it all goes down!

Have a stunning week! Don’t forget to follow me on InstagramTwitter, and TikTok!
