Nick Jonas, you beautiful dummy, why can't I quit you? The actor / singer / adorably self-proclaimed songwriter has been working his way through every publication known to man, and this weekend landed a spot on Los Angeles Confidential showing off the waist that launched a thousand drips. Once I see him gracing the cover of Hotel Coupons at a rest stop I'll know I have a shot at getting him one on one for Fleshbot Gay!
In the interview Nick goes in deeper on his creative journey than he has all year, and it is just so fucking cute I can't stand it. His roller coaster ride of emotions are evident the accompanying photos, and even though Los Angeles Confidential didn't pay premium rates for Nick Jonas armpit hair, we do get what I would consider to be one of his top 10 photos of 2016. It's the one where his waist looks like it was sent directly from God and Jesus while he's sporting the best fitting navy pants of the damn century. You know, the one where his chest hair makes you ponder the greater things in life and challenge everything you've ever known to be true. The one... at the top of the page. Of course, it wouldn't be a Nick Jonas photoshoot without a little cadaver realness, which he delivers here while sitting in a double breasted jacket next to a fire. Even when he's a queer in the headlights I just can't get enough!
Interestingly, this is the first Nick interview this year that I can think of where he doesn't touch on his involvement with the LGBTQ community (although contractually the world "gay" is in the article - when he talks about his role as a closeted MMA fighter on Kingdom). (Head HERE for his gay make out scene). Thankfully the lack of LGBTQ shenanigans makes room for more insight on Jonas' shaft, I mean craft, as well as his career journey.
On which acting projects he takes on:
On the acting side, I’m drawn to darker projects, things that are dramatic, intense, and really push me—but also mixing in some of these great opportunities for things that continue to show my comedy side as well. Having many layers to ‘all things Nick Jonas’ is kind of the key.
On practicing his comedy chops on Scream Queens:
I have to read a line 100 different ways before I know the way I’m going to deliver it, and just see which one I think is funny and roll with that.
On his musical journey:
On the music front, I try to grow every day and expose myself to new and exciting things to be inspired by, whether it’s people I’m collaborating with or just new music that I’m getting introduced to. I think that you’ve got to keep an attitude of never wanting to stop growing.
On dating in the year of Nick Jonasty:
It’s been challenging to find any time on that front. But it’s also a choice I made to just have this season of my life be solo, so that I can make the most of all I’m trying to accomplish. I’ve got plenty of time, at 24. I mean I hope I have plenty of time!
Oh, I'll be here bitch. Finally, on how his career affects his outlook on life:
I was on a rocket ship to the moon with my brothers as part of a teen phenomenon. And to come back and solidify an adult career with real confidence in myself and pride in my work, I think I’ve now been able to see things a little bit differently. And that really does shape who you become as a person, the way you see the world... and the way you treat other human beings.
No matter your thoughts on Jonasty, you have to admit he's one of the most earnest celebrities out there, which has merit in it's own right. Or he's just a dummy. Next up you can catch Nick Jonas in his first big budget outing, the 2017 reboot of Jumanji featuring The Rock.
