This Gay ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’ Encounter Is… Touching?

I will happily admit that in my younger and more vulnerable years, I was a huge RPG gamer; Final Fantasy, D&D, you name it, I was on it. I haven't played one in well over a decade now, and it looks as if things are getting a little... risqué in the RPG world these days. Take Bioware's Dragon Age: Inquisition for example, which gives players the option of having a gay encounter with a large horned beast voiced by Freddie Prinze, Jr.

According to Kotaku (link below), the game's designers have given players the option of romancing The Iron Bull, complete with the awkward discovery of your forbidden love, and the option for a touching coda to the encounter. It's apparently a giant step forward for the company's games.

As much as I get sucked into the romances in Bioware games, I recognize that most of their romance scenes in the past have been the bad kind of awkward. You feel as if you're watching two dolls trying to touch each other. It's not sexy, it doesn't feel real, and everyone just sort of cringes. I also gotta give props in that this is a clever way of getting around having to show actual sex, which might be tougher to, ahem, nail.

Now, the one thing I do have to say is that this seems more than a little inspired by Satan & Saddam's relationship in the South Park movie. Freddie Prinze, Jr. is clearly trying to sound like Trey Parker's Satan, and the other guy is dressed in a military uniform, and his name is Kadam for crying out loud. I'm on to you Dragon Age game designers.
