Then in February of 2010 I got a phone call from my mom. My mom never calls me. Never. It's like pulling teeth to get her to talk on the phone, but she called me and she was like, "Are you on the cover of a magazine?" I had been voted Man of the Year in Unzipped Magazine that month, so I said, "Yeah … how do you know that?"

Number 1, what the hell is mom doing eying a gay porn rag? Number 2, if we got this phone call, we'd most likely freeze in fright, hang up, and immediately move to Tibet. But here's how Sam's mom reacted.

And so she told me this story: It was a Saturday night, and she had had a date with a guy and he had stood her up. She wanted to entertain herself so she went to the adult bookstore to buy a dildo, and she decided to browse the gay magazines because she said that's where the hottest guys always were. And there I was on the cover of the magazine.

Any mom who'd freely admit to her son that she's dildo shopping and likes looking at gay porn probably won't have much problem if her son was a smutstar. In fact, according to Samuel, his mother "read the article that went with my photos in the magazine, and she said it was really beautiful."

Samuel clearly has the greatest mother in the world. She freely looked at photos of her naked, aroused, butt-cheek-spreading son, and found it beautiful. Or is that kind of creepy?

Anyway, kudos to Samuel. If only all families could be so accepting. It'd go a long ways towards de-stigmatizing a career in selling sex.
