Naked Sword has released the first episode of Season 2 of "Golden Gate"-their porny webseries about life and sex in San Francisco. Start unbuttoning your pants now, because this takes us back to when we first discovered the joys of porn.
After years of online gay porn being nothing but "real" boys on couches who eventually suck and fuck, "Golden Gate" is a wonderful throwback to Falcon films of the 80s. Here's what we love...
Opening Credits Around San Francisco
Like the Falcon classics, the delightful opening credits show shots around the City by the Bay. "Golden Gate" one-ups them by incorporating historical footage of the city's growth from the Gold Rush to the gay rights movements. Nothing like a sense of pride before jerking off.
A Theme Song…With Lyrics!
It has a theme song over the opening credits! This one sets the scene by introducing the various San Fran characters we'll presumably meet in the porn. We think fondly of the cheesy but fun theme songs of The Other Side of Aspen 2 and Touch Me, It's Hot, It's Tender. Falcon, release a Greatest Hits album, stat!
Pornstars Plays Characters, Not Themselves
How fun! Jesse Santana doesn't play his usual badboy self, but a real estate agent trying to sell a condo to Sage Daniels, who plays the millionaire founder of a website-you know, if Mark Zuckerberg were ripped, tatted out and Italian-esque. Characters add the sense of porn as fantasy. The website even has character profiles. It's like watching TV!
Dramatic Dialogue Leads Up To the Good Stuff
We use the word "dramatic" loosely, but after years of staged, on the couch "interviews" about the last time the guys have had "sex" with their "girlfriends," we finally get an old school script—in this case, hooking up with that sexy, gay (of course) real estate agent. Seeing even the flimsiest of dramatic scenarios somehow makes the sex steamier than just having two dudes chilling on a Crate and Barrel sofa.
Choreographed Sex
Now, the whole appeal of the Sean Cody/Corbin Fisher era of porn is that the porn looks amateur and spontaneous, rather than phony and staged. However, there's something refreshing about going back to porn that's obviously staged, but still feels natural. The camera smoothly and lovingly moves up and down their bodes, rather than being a roving, shaking handheld affair. Huzzah for the steady-cam!
