TitanMen Is Trying to Shift the Gay Porn DVD Paradigm

Everyone buys porn with a set of expectations. Along with seeing the guys on the box cover fucking, we also expect four (or five!) scenes. Well, not Titan, who is taking it down to three bigger scenes. Is that cool?

Porn, like everything else i life, is all about ritual. Just like most scenes develop along the make out, oral, rimming, fucking, cumshots narrative, most porn DVDs contain at least four if not five (and sometimes more) scenes. Not so with Titan. They've changed not only the order of the action in the scenes but the number of scenes themselves. We noticed it at first with their twinkier Eastern-European line TitanMen Fresh, but now it has seeped into their man line as well, as evidenced by their newest flick "Distraction."

What we get instead is three scenes and the action starts with kissing followed by oral and then cumshots. Then the same pairings start with the making out and rimming before fucking and even more cum shots. So, you get to see more of the action, more cumshots, but few configurations. How do you feel about this?

We don't mind so much, because the three scenes we get are awesome! Just take a look at "Distraction." The first scene with Fleshbot Crush Object Marco Blaze, Dean Flynn, and lovely otter newcomer Dario Beck is more than enough to make you bust a load, maybe two, like all the boys do here. And if their threeway oral scene by a pool and all-versatile fuck session in a bed wasn't enough, you still get two more explosive encounters, featuring Christopher Saint on top of Jay Roberts and Scott Alexander flipping with Bryan Slater.

That said, we tend to skip over most of the oral scene and cumshot to get straight to the ass banging. We have that tendency in the first place, and this just makes it easier. So we can understand the rationale that "You only get three scenes, but you get three bigger scenes," but that only really applies if you're into oral and cumshots.

We're surprised more studios aren't changing the way they package DVDs though. As more and more of the consumers are watching online and on-demand rather than with a DVD and remote, naturally what they want to watch is going to evolve as well. As long as they keep making load-blowing extravaganzas like this, we don't really care, but do you think this is the smartest way for TitanMen to proceed?
