It's like a porn koan: if performers look like they're fucking without condoms but are actually wearing them, does it still count as barebacking as far as the fantasy (not to mention the moral and/or health issues) are concerned? Raging Stallion's Chris Ward announced last week the results of "a huge (and secret) research and development project aimed at filming safe sex so that the viewer cannot see the condoms", and though the details are a bit fuzzy—something involving clear condoms, digital retouching, and various smoke and mirrors—it's already creating a stir; as evidenced by the comments at Gay Porn Blog, the debate pretty much comes down to whether porn in general is responsible for affecting real-life behavior, something we here at Fleshbot can't even agree on among ourselves. So we'll refrain from making any judgements about it until the we see the new condom/less scenes when they're released, at which point we'll be looking very very closely at our HD screens to see how Ward is making good on his claims. (Not that we don't spend most of our careers with our noses pressed up against our monitors anyway. But this time we'll have a good excuse for doing so.)
