“Hypertrophy”: Photos by Wai Teik

When we first heard about "Hypertrophy," our instinct was to call a bunch of our favorite musicians, rent a hall, adopt a colored ribbon and launch an international fundraiser. But as luck would have it, it's the name of a new book by Wai Teik that takes the very best (and biggest) in Singaporean bodybuilders and melds it with contemporary fashion and fuses it into an arresting book of photography. (Sort of like Marc Jacobs on steroids.) The best part of it all? We won't have to settle for any second-tier colors to (over)use on symbolic ribbons!- VH
