BUTT: The Book

It seems like just yesterday when we were passing around that first slim pink-paged, dog-eared issue with a few close friends and fellow discriminating smuthounds; now, the first five years of BUTT Magazine have been collected by the fine folks at Taschen into what promises to be the must-have bedside book of the holiday season. Arranged "for your (in)convenience" in reverse chronological order, the 560 pages contain every bit of editor Gert Jonkers and designer/editor Jop van Bennekom's singular vision of an "amazingly realistic view on today's homosexual man", including photos by Wolfgang Tillmans, Terry Richardson and Helmut Lang along with interviews with queer luminaries like Michael Stipe, Gus van Sant, Rufus Wainwright, and Marc Jacobs. We recommend ordering two copies just in case one of your tricks pals "borrows" yours; we guarantee you'll have a hard time getting it back. (Having lost our first half dozen issues in similar circumstances, we know what we're talking about.)
