DVD: Michael Lucas’ “Encounters”

Michael Lucas has never exactly been known for his modesty (bless his heart), but we haven't seen anything approaching the level of self-generated hype for his new "Encounters" series since ... well, "Dangerous Liaisons": "(T)he first movie of my new line, "Encounters", "The Heat of the Moment", deserves as much of your attention as "Dangerous Liaisons" ... In my belief, this film has the best art direction, cinematography, and the best acting—yes I said acting, in adult gay history". Pretty heavy words for a standard vignette DVD conceived of as an "homage to New York life, fully embracing the Chelsea lifestyle"; the painter fantasy, online hookup, and (especially) shrink's office scenes in "Heat of the Moment" we understand, but unless it's supposed to be shot in that seminary on Ninth Avenue we're not exactly sure how a dorm room fuck fits into the whole "Chelsea lifestyle" thing. Still, this is one nice-looking production filled with some hot men, performances that are a cut above your standard gay porn schtick, and Lucas' penchant for genuinely hot sex. What more can you ask for?
