Extras:

The DVD menu is a bit confusing and at first, you may not realize there are actual extras. The main menu simply has links to "Play Movie" and "Extra Features", but when you click that second option, it provides scene access selections for the four chapters in the film. Only upon a closer look do you realize there is a fifth choice that says "More Extras" below the Chapter listing. Once you click that, you finally are in the actual Extras menu. Our favorite is the Cum Shot Recap that compiles every money shot from the original video. Nothing like seeing young spunk over and over! There is also a photo gallery that cycles through still pics of scenes from the video. We didn't like that the still images only took up the center half of the screen with a large blue background covering the rest of the screen. The DVD also includes trailers for several other releases from the studio. The trailers play continuously one after the other with no way to select individual trailers, but the scenes shown are really hot, and the boys are the same younger age as the main feature, so it is worth watching.

Audio/Video:

The video is shot in a full-frame aspect ratio. While the video quality is generally acceptable, there are occasional moments where the focus is a bit blurry or soft, particularly in close-up "zoom" shots. A larger problem is that the colors and lighting are sometimes inconsistent. Skin tones change from cream to brown to golden as the camera angle changes. The changes are not so extreme that, for example, the actors ever look orange or the background too dark, as can be the case with other videos, but the change is definitely noticeable. Fortunately, the changes are not terribly distracting, especially since most people have a higher tolerance for such video quality issues in adult videos versus mainstream movies, but are prominent enough to be worth noting. Overall, the quality of the video would be comparable to a good VHS video, not utilizing the DVD format's potential for detail and crispness.

The audio is Dolby Digital 2.0. As the "conversation" portions are in a foreign language, most American audiences won't focus too much on that part of the audio. During the sex scenes, the audio is fine in three of the four scenes: at a consistent level and at appropriate volumes for hearing the "action" onscreen. We do want to note in the second and fourth scenes, there is a fair amount of background noise from off-screen activity that seems to be from people in other parts of the gym. We didn't find this distracting though, as you could still hear all the sex sounds clearly above it, and the background activity noise added to the "reality" of the scenes- as if another gum class was taking place in the other room. Strangely, in Scene Three, the audio is at a much lower volume than the other scenes- so much so that you will think you accidentally muted the sound if you have been playing it at the typical volumes for watching a porn video. If you turn up the volume a lot, you then realize that there IS audio, but there are a lot of inconsistent moments of loud indistinguishable background ambient noise that come and go as the camera angle changes. The producers probably turned down the audio so much in this scene when they realized the variable levels of background noise would be too annoying and decided it was better to make it less noticeable by keeping the volume so low.

Body of Review:

'The Wrestling Match' is a production of Belo Amigo Video, the South American division of adult video company The French Connection. The boys have an ethnic look but not one that is exclusively Latino. The video title is quite misleading though, if you are looking for a video that features actual wrestling or are looking to satisfy a wrestler fetish. There is no wrestling match, or are the boys ever even in the typical wrestling singlets. Instead, the video is set in a gym class with the boys going though a variety of exercises like somersaults, jumping jacks, and sit-ups. While the cover prominently shows 2 shirtless boys in a wrestling hold, that is not even a scene in the video itself as the boys are dressed in white uniforms whenever they are shown practicing their moves. The back cover description is also less than honest, describing the young athletes as "grappling with each other in a sweaty physical contest of strength and will. Here the desire to win is matched only by the desire to celebrate afterwards." There is no real "grappling" as the exercises are mostly solo warm-up type moves, and there is no contest to "win" as there is never any kind of a wrestling match. A few points have to be deducted just for misguiding the consumer this way.

As for the boys, they are a very nice mix of twink to jock builds, with tight, smooth bodies and attractive faces. Most of the boys are dark-haired and a bit difficult to tell apart, but the very young looking Claudio stands out as a fair-skinned redhead. Strangely, only eight of the boys are identified in the opening sequence and on the cover art, although there are clearly nine boys total in the gym and in the first shower scene.

The video actually starts with a short 3-minute segment of the boys in uniform in a gym class with an instructor guiding them through a series of exercises. This set-up sequence did nothing more than bring back unpleasant memories of the endless drills of jumping jacks/somersaults/etc. we were all forced to endure back in high school gym. Fortunately, that is quickly out of the way as the boys are dismissed to the locker room. Here, we have the pleasure of watching nine hot young jocks disrobe and head for the showers, many of whom are already sporting wood. The boys are far friskier than we remember from our own gym experiences- almost immediately, they pair up in twos and threes under the shower heads and start playfully groping and slapping each other. It isn't long before this turns into full-on sucking, jerking off, and kissing. What makes this scene particularly hot is that the boys are obviously having a great time, jumping around from one pairing to another and smiling and laughing throughout. We love that the camera pans from one set of boys to another so that you really feel the "group" sex atmosphere. After a few minutes, five of the boys congregate together in one of the open shower stalls, and the focus remains on their action from then on. Five boys in a tight space! As expected, it is a smorgasbord of boy-on-boy action, as the boys get busy enjoying each other's bodies. Two of the boys then break off to the side, and the camera goes back and forth between these two and the remaining three who are still going at it in the stall. The action here is mostly oral, with all boys getting seemingly equal time going down on each other. All of a sudden, we see that the three boys in the stall have started fucking. One boy is sandwiched between the other two and he is definitely the lucky one, as he is being penetrated by one boy while fucking the other. He is moaning so loudly and with such passion that we would have given up our entire DVD collection to be in his place right then. Meanwhile, the two boys outside the stall have started their own anal action, and the camera now goes between these two sets of boys as they shift positions, going at it from every position and combination. We particularly loved watching one boy bouncing up and down riding another boy's cock while his own rock-hard erection bounced around pointed right at the camera. Soon, everyone is shooting all over each other and this nice 20 minute long scene is over. The only thing we wonder is what happened to the other four boys who were in the showers at the beginning of the scene? Once the action focused on the five boys, the other four were never shown again.

Scene 2: Igor, Paulo

Igor is alone in the shower area, and we see he has a raging boner. Fortunately for him, Paulo is lurking in the locker room, obviously looking to hook up with someone. Rodrigo than jacks off and the scene, and the video itself, come to a sudden and unsatisfying end.

Concluding Words:

Despite the misleading cover art and name, we suspect most consumers are attracted to the younger guys on the cover instead of the wrestling theme, so the question becomes whether the sex scenes are any good. This we have to rate as a mixed bag. The first scene is certainly hot, with such a large number of boys featured simultaneously in the shower stalls. This should satisfy anyone's fantasies of high school gym locker rooms. The frisky, playful atmosphere seems genuine and spontaneous. Unfortunately, the other three scenes, which feature two boys each, are a disappointment. The sex seems perfunctory, and the boys appear to be just going through the motions. Half of what makes sex scenes "hot" is the look of excitement or desire in the faces and body language of the actors, but the boys in those three scenes seem to have little chemistry and are just performing the moves expected of them. The boys may have hot bodies, but in those scenes, you get the feeling of generic casual sex rather than any real attraction. As a result, you may find yourself wanting to reach for the fast-forward button on the remote, particularly as the scenes go on for quite some time. Unfortunately, nothing better follows later in the video, and the credits may well be rolling before you are left satisfied... unless of course, you have already taken care of business from that first hot group scene. The video could also have used another scene or two, particularly another group scene or at least a three-way. You end up feeling like the video ends before it should. Despite the somewhat disappointing last three scenes, that first scene is hot enough that you'll want to at least rent this if you are into younger, athletic guys.
