This disc includes the usual scene access feature, which becomes particularly useful as the DVD is not programmed to display any chapter stops, index marks, or running time on your player. There is also a cool "Cum Shot Recap" that shows all the final climaxes of each scene, plus a still photo gallery of images from the feature that we just wished did not have big green borders taking up over half the screen. The best Extra is actually the long 10-minutes worth of trailers included for seven of the studio's other features, which include many hot preview scenes with dozens of younger, athletic guys.
Audio/Video:
This feature is presented in full-frame format. The video quality is quite superb. Although the first scene has nice video quality, it is all the other scenes in the video that truly stand out. Colors are extremely vivid and the level of detail is almost astounding. In outdoor scenes, you feel like you are watching a nature special on cable, and the forest comes to life with almost 3D-like depth. In indoor scenes, background details are crisp and easy to make out. On the actors, you can see clearly the freckles on faces and the peach fuzz on legs (and balls!). Even compared to mainstream major theatrical DVDs, this video's quality is overall outstanding. The audio track is Dolby Digital 2.0. With the notable exception of the third scene, the sound quality is clean and clear. The sounds of the forest in particular have a vibrant, lush feel, particularly in scenes with the sounds of a waterfall or stream in the background. Actors' voices and sex sounds are at appropriate volumes. This unfortunately is not the case with the third scene, where the audio track volume is turned way down, so that you will think you accidentally muted the sound. If you turn up the volume a lot, you can hear the audio track, but you immediately realize there is a lot of background ambient noise that almost drowns out the sounds of the action on screen; it becomes obvious why the producers chose to keep the audio mix very faint throughout the scene.
Body of Review:
'Jam Boy Ree Part 1' is volume #7 in the 18 Today International series from The French Connection studio's South American division.
