Dear Chad,

I feel like social media is taking over my life. I am constantly refreshing Twitter, TikTok, IG, and embarrassingly even Facebook. I am always seeing awful news stories, people getting canceled, and random drama, and I feel like I am addicted. Sometimes it's funny memes or positive things but mostly negative. I don't want to be out of the loop on what's going on in the world or even the gay world but I am feeling so overwhelmed, what should I do?

I am so sorry this happened to you. Listen, the best thing to do is to give him perspective on the situation. Sometimes people's anger consumes them in the moment and they're blind to other things. Maybe he didn't know how to confront you and made a mistake of not seeing what was actually happening in the situation? The best thing is to talk to him about how that made you feel, put him in his place, and realize that your feelings are valid! Do the dishes matter? Yes, very much so. I have a really hard time controlling my number of drinks when I go out. "Just two" almost always turns into six plus some shots and by the time I am in the Uber, I am absolutely wasted. The worst is when I wake up and people are telling me the things I said or did that I have no memory of! Sometimes it's funny and not a big deal, other times I am totally embarrassed and can't believe I acted like that. How do I control my number of drinks so this doesn't keep happening? Listen, TequilaSodie, this might be one of my more challenging answers to write because it does sound like you have a drinking prob girl! That sloppy stuff ain't cute and you have to do better about cutting yourself off or slowing down in general. I've obvi been through a phase (or ten) like this, and it usually stems from being depressed or stressed out! Alcohol is here for us to have fun, not blackout. Your goal when you go out should be to have a good time, not get fucked up. So ask yourself before you even get in the Uber, am I in the right headspace to be drinking tonight? There's nothing wrong with staying sober and just getting a soda. Maybe even try going dry for a month to let your brain reset and your liver heal a bit before reintroducing the booze again. But be careful, continuing this behavior is only going to lead to bigger train wrecks and that's how you lose friends and get a reputation! So slow it down and get it together, you've got this!
