New Music of the Week!

Join me as I go through the newest released songs that have made me hit replay and talk about some exciting upcoming releases!

Kali Uchis dropped the first single from her third album Red Moon in Venus, "I Wish You Roses." It is a beautiful ballad about wanting the best for someone as you let them go from your life. "I never thought I would be without you. I wish you love, I wish you well, I wish you roses while you can still smell them," she croons. The music video is a gorgeous fever dream of Uchis bathed in pink and red hues and showered by roses. The editing team did their big one with this! Her album is out in March.

After four singles, "Have Mercy," "Surprise," "Treat Me," and "For the Night," Chloe Bailey went back to the drawing board for the first single on her debut album, In Pieces, out in March. "Pray It Away," a very welcome departure from the sound of her previous singles, sees Chloe reining in her emotions to focus on prayer after her man plays in her face. Growth is better than revenge. Definitely looking forward to the direction this album takes her. More choir-supported songs!!!

Cordae and Anderson .Paak teamed up on "Two Tens," a tune you will surely want to play during that pregame or smoke session with friends. They pair effortlessly and trade verses over a very minimal beat. They got the masses begging for a joint album. We would like to see it.

Kari Faux gears up for her next album release with "Me First," a pretty little diddy about worth and letting the masses know: prioritize yourself! Your dreams, your finances, and most importantly… your orgasm.

While the original is fantastic. Very much "Don't Forget About Me" esque. I want to bring attention to "Welcome to My Island" (George Daniel & Charli XCX Remix). If Caroline Polachek made the daytime bask in the sun with the top-down version, Charli accomplished creating the night version, the chaos of getting ready before the night, shaky hand cam house party vibes, and euphoria every time the beat escalates, and the 808s kick in.

The album Gloria sees Sam Smith meeting at the intersection of their queerness and Catholic upbringing. Sam is looking in the mirror, prioritizing themselves and their identity, and going on a "f**k you" tour to the bigots and all the backlash of their leaning into their more feminine side. If the music video for "I'm Not Here To Make Friends" is any indication, it is that Sam is going to keep their very queer foot on our necks, and we just have to deal with it.

Key track for me: No God

Ava Max came to deliver for the pop girlies. Diamonds & Dancefloors is 40 minutes of pure upbeat, dancefloor-ready tracks. She made this for the girls and the gays to lose their minds on the dance floor. If you don't believe me peep this cosign from Season 15 Queen Spice:

Coming Up On The Radar:

"Ur a Bitch” by Adanna Duru continues the artist's run of sonically sleek bops after her release of "Boogie" and "POP!"

The Princess Diana of NY, Ice Spice, joins PinkPantheress for an addicting and refreshing remix of "Boy's a liar pt. 2."

Hold on to your wigs, girls; Kelela makes a much-anticipated return to our streams and ears with her second album RAVEN, releasing 2/10. If the singles ahead of the release tell us anything, we will be well-fed by Mother Kelela.
