Our last visit to a clothing optional resort was to Island House Key West, the longest owned and operated gay men's resort in the world. Island House is a perfect fit for Key West. We brought along our friend, porn star Nic Sahara for their infamous Wednesday Hump Day Pool Party...and it was spectacular. New friends made, new hookups made, and great drinks. But what if you're shy? How do start the convo to let someone know you want to get busy?

#1- First and foremost, get a drink in your hand! You’re at Island House, which means you already have 4 stiff cocktails coming your way during the daily free happy hour! So as old as the saying is, you can always do what many do and simply say, “Can I get you a drink?” Cuz guess what, happy hour is free!

#2- Yes you’re at a resort, but this is a gay resort, so there’s a bit more flexibility in how to pick someone up for a good romp! Feel free to walk right up to that guy you would normally think wasn’t in your league, and just say, “So which room are you staying in?” Not only does this pass the right message, but it’s plausible deniability in the sense you’re only being friendly since you’re a guest too. He won’t know if you’re being frank with him, or if you’re just being friendly. Therefore, he’ll have to respond.

#3- At one of the two weekly pool parties at Island House, make quick friends with the pool boys passing around free shots! Next time you’re in the pool and you’re chatting up that lonely stud muffin, you can wave your hand to that poolboy friend and he’ll be right there handing you some liquid courage for you to offer your future ex-husband.

#4- The “Red Room” at Island House has seen decades of hot action. Why not lose those inhibitions and see what you’ve heard all about!
