Shawn Mendes Got Soaking Wet At The VMAs

The MTV VMAs were full of some great performances... way back when. These days it seems they're just trying to get anyone to perform whatever hit is on the radio at that moment and there isn't a big enough budget to make whatever is happening on stage look presentable.

There were a few standout exceptions to the rule this year - notably Ariana Grande singing God is A Woman and, my favorite, Shawn Mendes showing off his overgrown pits while getting drenched during the show's first performance of the night.

Singing his two biggest hits of 2018, In My Blood and Help Me, Shawn wore a simple white tee, some of the tightest pants he could find, and his guitar. I mean, what more would he need anyway?

As the artificial rain came pouring out of the ceiling, Shawn looked as if he were about to come in first place in a one-person wet tee shirt contest. That was also the moment I realized how huge his biceps have gotten since the last time he showed them off.

Fans and celebs who got to see it live and in person seemed to love the performance overall, give or take a few (lookin' at you, Nicki Minaj). Still, hopefully MTV learned you can never go wrong with a wet Shawn Mendes.
