Model Derek Chadwick Identifies As Gay

Coming out is never easy, and the younger you are the more difficult it can be. For 23-year old model/actor Derek Chadwick, that moment is finally here. Chadwick, who is known best for his Instagram modeling and his small acting stint on FX's Scream Queens, officially came out in a recent interview.

"I would identify now as gay… I think I realized vaguely at school that I was gay, like officially," he said. "There was a point that I just knew."

With 277,000 followers on social media, Chadwick said he felt nervous to show his true colors because he didn't want others to look at him any differently. After a little back-and-forth with himself, however, he ultimately decided that perhaps coming out could do more good for his following.

"If I can just inspire one person, whoever that is, to be their true self or do something they were scared to do or didn’t feel 100% confident in, that would be the most rewarding part of all this… Being honest and being who you are is always the best way to live."

Going forward, Chadwick says he plans to be a devoted advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

"I want to be the person that’s at those rallies and events advocating for people and anybody," he said. "I never felt that I could do that unless I did this, and I think this is a major way for people to see visible queer people."

Honestly, I don't mind one bit having someone like Derek Chadwick on my team. Just look at him!
