Ryan Murphy Is Donating All ‘Pose’ Profits to LGBTQ+ Charities

Ryan Murphy, the producer behind hit shows like Glee, AHS, and A Normal Heart, has announced that 100% of the profits made from his newest project, Pose, will be donated to charities that cater to the trans and LGBTQ+ communities.

After scoring a $300 million deal with Netflix, giving up proceeds to one season of a show doesn't seem like much, but it's the message behind what Murphy is doing that speaks volumes. Murphy, whose been the brains behind some of the most entertaining shows on television in the past few years, is set on standing up for those who are mostly ignored by the majority.

Pose is set in 1986 in New York City and takes a look at the different classes of the city at the time: the start of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world. Before scenes were shot, the show was already making history by putting together the largest cast of trans actors in history. Hailie Sahar, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Angelica Ross, and M.J. Rodriguez were all hand-picked by the production team for the project.

The series also stars some big names from TV, like Dawson’s Creek alum James Van Der Beek, House of Card’s Kate Mara, AHS' Evan Peters, Kinky Boots star Billy Porter, Ryan Jamaal Swain and Dyllon Burnside.
