Hold Up! People Still Buy Gay Porn Magazines?

EDITORIAL FEATURES

Yes, they do, and Unzipped Media recently announced that it's selling more magazines than ever. And the place people are buying them is a porn shop you've never heard of called Barnes & Noble.

That's right, you skanks are getting your smut the same place you get your Dan Brown books and your Starbucks lattes. Unzipped Media, which owns Unzipped, Men Magazine, and Freshmen, announced on Unzipped's always-fun blog that Barnes & Nobel told them that their titles continue to grow in their stores with the October 2008 issue of Unzipped with Johnny Hazzard on the cover as the best-selling issue to date.

If that wasn't impressive enough, the January 2009 issues of Unzipped and Freshmen (which were sold through December) had a 45 per cent sell-through rate, the highest percentage since 2007. That means that almost half of all the mags shipped to the stores were sold. Yeah, that sounds shitty, but in the magazine world these days, that number is huge!

Not too long ago, everyone was saying that the magazine business was going to die altogether, especially for porn, where nearly everyone has been getting their content online for the past so many years. It's good to hear that these mags are thriving, because we'd hate to live in a world where an Irish teenager can't steal his first beat-off mags from the local Barnes & Noble (hey, how do you think we wound up in St. Dymphna's School for Wayward Boys in the first place).
