First Out Gay Division 1 Football Player Stud Proposes To Boyfriend

Ten years ago, Mason Darrow was a senior offensive lineman for the Princeton Tigers. During his time there, he had the courage to come out of the closet, becoming the first out Division 1 footballer. His coming out was met with support from his coach and his teammates. The year he came out, he was included in Out magazine's 100.

Since coming out, Mason has been an active advocate for queer representation in sports. He no longer plays football, but he is still involved in the sports world. He currently works for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as a manager of philanthropic giving.

Recently, Mason took to social media to announce that he was engaged to his longtime boyfriend, Jacob Nussbaum. They make a hot couple. No, we aren't jealous at all. Sigh.

In a fun twist, the two men had arranged to propose to each other separately. One occurred in New York City, and the other in Mexico City. Hey, if the plans were already made, why not a double proposal? Congrats to the engaged couple.

We are thankful for courageous athletes like Mason who have the balls to come out and live their true lives, being an inspiration for others to come out as well. Little by little, the queer community is gaining an open presence in the sports world.
