Hotel Workout Tips To Stick With
It's the holiday season, and that means many of us will be traveling. We also know there is a large contingent of us gays who constantly travel for work or for fun. Packing on the pounds or getting a little jiggly is all too easy while traveling. We are tired, we don't have our regular gym, and food on the go is often not the best for our diet. Facts are facts, and we aren't going to give up fun foods while traveling abroad. So to counterbalance that, we need to keep up with our travel workouts. We put together a few tricks of the trade on keeping fit with hotel workouts. With just a little effort, you won't let your body get too out of shape. Before you know it, summer will be here again. LOL.
Even if your hotel doesn't have a gym, you can still keep fresh by using your own room, a local park, or even your parents' basement (if you are visiting family during the holidays). All you need to pack every time you are on the move are some resistance bands (cheap, off of Amazon) and a jump rope. These two items can be used in any space, even someone's alleyway. They don't take up any room, and there are a number of workouts you can do to burn calories and keep tight. YouTube has many free workouts you can follow along with on your phone while using these cheap and easy gym substitutions.
Even if your hotel gym is not up to par, they are sure to include some sort of cardio machine and at least a dumbbell set. Mixing short bursts of intense cardio with high-volume weight reps will get you that combo that will increase your metabolism and engage your muscles. This high-energy combo will allow you to put in a short time with maximum results to get you on your day.
If you forgot to pack your resistance bands or jump rope and your hotel does not have a gym at all, you can use your own body weight in your room to get the job done. Do 3 to 4 rounds of push-ups, planks, squats, chair dips, and burpees, and you will have a full body workout ready to go.
No matter what you do, we suggest you get it done first thing in the morning before you start your day. This will start your metabolism for the day, but also ensure you won't wimp out later in the day due to being tired or having a busy schedule. Just do it and get it over with!
Keeping up a workout routine while traveling isn't just about looking good for the gays. It is about keeping healthy while being around traveling germs, it is about fighting jet lag, and it is about improving your mood and mobility so you can feel an air of confidence and stability while traveling. It is all about your mindset.
