Netherlands Has Elected Its First Openly Gay Prime Minister, and He's Hot!
Even as it seems that politics is turning its back on the queer community, we are still having some wins around the world. On October 26th, the Netherlands elected its first-ever openly gay (and youngest!) prime minister. This hunk of a stud, Rob Jetten, is 38 years old. Rob is the leader of the centrist-liberal Democrats 66 (D66) party, winning the election over the conservative far-right faction that tried to build their campaign on anti-immigration and anti-Islamic platforms. Jetten told reporters, “We’ve shown the rest of Europe and the world that it is possible to beat populist movements when you campaign with a positive message for your country."Jetten officially takes over today, November 3rd, after the mail-in ballots are finalized.

Not only is Jetten doing well for the nation, but he looks goddamn hot in that suit. We definitely have a political crush. He also looks hot in casual wear. Where's his underwear campaign?

On the media side, Jetten has become the Netherlands' sweetheart. He's also received a lot of social media love due to his relationship with studly Argentinian field hockey player, Nico Keenan. Nico just happens to be a two-time Olympian. Geesh, is this the picture-perfect couple or what? They are engaged to be married. Sigh.

Look at Rob's hot fiancée shirtless. Some guys have all the luck. The two are planning to get married next year.

Nico has talked openly about his bisexuality, and he is happy to bring queer awareness to the world of sports. The couple has been largely well-received by the Dutch people and the media.

The Netherlands has always been considered a great nation for the LGBTQ community. It was the first nation in the world to legalize same sex marriage. Even so, considering the current climate regarding government and queer communities, this is a huge message to the world and much-needed visibility in government.
