Get out the douche, it's time to celebrate! October 30th is officially National Power Bottom Appreciation Day. Today, we pay homage to those bottoms who clean out, eat salads on date night, and bend over and take it in order to please the tops of the world. It's a tough job, but the bottoms grin and bear it, and today is all about them! There's always the smirk and playful jest, "Oh, you just know he's a bottom!" supposedly referencing someone's femininity. The truth is, it takes more of a man to experience some pain that turns into pleasure than just sticking your dick in something.

The term power bottom, of course, originated from the gay community. It describes a bottom who takes an active and assertive role in the bedroom as the receiving end of anal sex. They crave it, they want it, they are aggressive about it. For a power bottom, the bigger the better. They will often take control in the bedroom, taking more powerful positions like cowboy and reverse cowboy to control the rhythm and thrusts of a hot session.

The first record of the term power bottom dates back to 1981. It was a phrase that was used as slang in the gay community and has blossomed from there. By 1990, the term was used in a positive way, describing the power play that occurs in gay sex. It was used to express appreciation for a sexual role that defied traditional stereotypes. It was about owning and celebrating being on the receptive end and having the power to give pleasure to a top. The 2000s brought even wider use of the term as the internet and chat rooms took off. Bottoms around the world were able to connect and chat about the joy of bottoming and share stories about their searches for the biggest dicks. By 2010, the term power bottom was being included in gay TV and film. Where would we be without our bottoms of the world? Are they the true heroes?
