Flashback Friday Looks at a KinkMen Horror Classic

Ok, yer boy Hank here is aware that the graphic above leads you to believe I'm going to write about a horror film with queer elements. Surprise! I'm actually going to write about a gay porn video with horror elements! How's that for a Flashback Friday? It's been quite a while since I've written about a straight-up porn vid, cuz we're keeping things PG-13 over here these days, but I think in the Halloween season, this warrants a reprise. So let's dive into KinkMen's "Valentine Visitors: Draven Navarro Gets Whipped and DP'd" from 2019 starring Draven Navarro, Colby Jansen, and Sebastien Keys. And we'll look at exactly why this works as horror porn, perfect for the spooky season.

The trailer above is for a 1997 German horror film called Funny Games, and remarkably, it's the basis of KinkMen's darkly comic, kink-heavy, hour-long short directed by Keys, who clearly is a fan of the source material. The German film, and its English-language remake starring Naomi Watts and Tim Roth, are both directed by horror realism auteur Michael Haneke. It's a shocking, disturbing, and very darkly funny bit of hardcore porn in which two pleasantly appearing young men appear at the door of the lakeside vacation home of a young couple and their son. What follows is a grueling 12 hours of "games" the two men inflict upon the family for their own amusement. Spoiler alert, things go from bad to worse to fatal for the family as, at the end, the two men look about the lake houses dotting the far shoreline and contemplate their next move.

There are elements of social satire and even the most subtle of gay coding in the two men. With their crisp white shirts and clean-cut style, they could be any rhetoric-spewing Young Republican we see in the news nowadays, or any Christian Nationalist grabbing for power. And this is at the heart of Funny Games, a horrific look at what we inflict upon each other while appearing with a smile and a TV-acceptable look.

So what does this all have to do with the KinkMen scene? Navarro and his wife, played by Sablique Von Lux, are having a quiet Valentine's Day dinner at home when Keys knock on their door. His respectable appearance and calm demeanor get him inside the door, as he explains he's from next door and his "dad" sent him over for some eggs. Soon, Jansen shows up, worms his way in, and before the couple is aware of the danger, Jansen and Keys have physically disabled Navarro with his golf clubs and tied up and dispatched with Lux.

For the rest of the short film, Navarro is put into increasingly painful and penetrative positions. Keys uses the aforementioned golf club handle on Navarro's backside while Jansen feeds his beautiful dick, all the while amping up the verbal commands and degradation. On the circular staircase, the handrails become what Navarro is bound to as floggers, and a cattail whip is used on his muscular back and beefy rump.

Dragged to the bedroom, a ball gagged Navarro is tied to the bedposts, leaving his ass exposed for several rounds of anal play before the grand finale, a scorching DP as he's pressed between his two handsome attackers. It all ends better for him than for the family members in the original film. He only has to "suffer" the "indignity" of taking Jansen and Keys's loads to the face as he cries and sputters spit from behind the ball gag.

So what's great about this, and why do I find it a bit remarkable? A couple of reasons. First, they don't fall into the common trope that the bottom being attacked succumbs to it all with eventual enjoyment. By the end, Navarro isn't begging for more. He maintains his verbal resistance and disgust with what's being done to him, which only serves to egg on his attackers. And second, the source material! The producers didn't pick an obvious choice in sexualizing Jason or Freddy or Leatherface. Nope, for this Valentine's Day special scene (or yeah, that!, this was created for Valentine's Day, not Halloween!), someone was a horror fan enough to be familiar with Funny Games and came up with a concept that fit, and that worked. It was horrific, kinky, and really hot!

So, for this Halloween, go find either version of Funny Games if you dare. Trust me, it's not the easiest thing to watch. Then find KinkMen's "Valentine's Visitors..." You can find it on other sites for free besides KinkMen.
