Starting today, for one week, if you are in the US, instead of the popular and well-known "bloop!" notification sound, you will get a bit of Christina's hit "Come On Over Baby (All I Want is You)." We know that she is an ally, but this is out of control! Nothing gets you hornier than listening to a pop diva? Is that how it goes?

The temporary notification change is inspired by Christina's stint at the Portola Festival presented by Goldenvoice in San Francisco on September 20th. Um, like Grindr doesn't have enough ads as it is? We love Christina, but, really?

Christina released the statement, “Portola, Grindr, and me? That’s a threesome I can get behind. When that ‘Come on Over’ sound hits at the festival, or wherever you’re celebrating, I hope things get spicy!” To be honest, we do have a couple of her songs on our hookup playlist. The senior VP of brand marketing stated, “The Grindr ‘bloop’ is one of the most iconic sounds in gay pop culture. But when Christina Aguilera enters the chat, we give her the stage … Whether you’re at Portola or inviting someone to ‘Come On Over,’ Grindr is making sure everyone can get in on the fun."

You have to be updated on the latest version of Grindr (Version 25.15.10), and make sure your sound toggle is on under settings - then notifications. Christina will also pop up in other places on the app and in Grindr's social media posts. Grindr even made a cute little short featuring the pop diva:

Social media users are split on welcoming Christina to the app. To be fair, how many of us have our phones on silent? Many of us gays probably wouldn't even notice the change. Others think it's a perfect fit because Christina has always been a fierce ally and celebrates sexuality in a very positive way. She is considered a gay icon, making the partnership make sense. We shouldn't hold her accountable for the disaster that was Burlesque? LOL.

What do you think? Has Grindr gotten too commercial and full of ads? Grindr has certainly gotten a run for its money from Sniffies. Users say that Sniffies is just easier to use and gets to hookups quicker. Maybe Katy Perry will advertise on Sniffies. LOL.
